Onerous entitlement hoops.

Repubs like breakage. They install it into almost all of what business offers us. Warranties, coupons, contracts. This, to run the dollar trick on us. Yknow, the one where the dollar is on a tether.

This is also the tack they use on entitlements. Only in a different form. The hoops installed on entitlements work like this. To comply with the rules, you must lie. Or, at least get sneaky with your spend down etc. You must hyperbolize your ailment or in some other way make a claim to bolster your eligibility.

Then, those that installed the breakage, now can claim that all those sad sacks are cheats and liars. Guilty of fraud and deceit. In a sense, forcing those vulnerable souls to set themselves up as welfare cheats.

Far from this being a letdown to those repubs that never met a poor person that shouldn't starve to death, they revel in it. They grouse about their own piety and protestant work ethic, their sterling morals and how God rewards those superior humans. They can cluck about how those poor could spend the same energy getting rich like the godlike. All the while removing the ladder up one wrung at a time. Their contempt for those not in their peer group is palpable.

There is also the breakage designed to see you dead, or giving up in disgust before your appeal is heard. Indeed, to even appeal a finding is tantamount to the actions of a welfare queen,looking for a scam.

Hoops, and traps must be seen for the trouble they can cause. Dems may likely allow further hoops, in the hopes that it might appease the provincial and insular. It would be a mistake. That camels nose under the tent will lead to its spitting at all those that bother it. It is in the design. Watch out.
