You know islam, a religion dreamed up by a child molester in a cave. Now thats morality.
So even at that time Mo-Ham-Head would have been considered a child molester.

Edited on Wed Sep-21-11 02:08 PM by dmallind
Using an abbreviation invented by the early church itself and still proudly referenced with innumerable chi-rho inscriptions on churches and documents throughout the world, is as insulting as calling the central holy figure a child molestor?

What the hell kind of persecution complex would equate those even in kind let alone degree?

I have no interest at all in placing Islam above reproach or disrespect, but to see any analogy here is insane.

27. Seriously. The chi rho decorates every light fixture in the sanctuary of the church
I grew up attending. Taking offense to it is like saying, "My best friend's name is Robert. He also goes by Bob. But if YOU call him Bob, it is an insult akin to spitting on my mother's grave!"

4. Insulting a religion is Constitutionally-protected free speech. There are no blasphemy laws here...
...or in most religions including Christianity - Christians aren't supposed to blaspheme their own religion but are supposed to turn the other cheek when someone blasphemes Christianity.

Islam is different. Blasphemy is a high crime under Islamic law.

My Give-A-Shit-O-Meter is stuck on zero on this issue.

Edited on Wed Sep-21-11 01:41 PM by Blue_In_AK
but I personally find it very, very offensive. For the same reason that I don't condemn Christianity for the excesses of the far right, I don't condemn Islam for the excesses of their fundamentalists. Good people and assholes can be found in all religions and among atheists, as well. People should be judged (if they're judged at all) on their individual merits.

Too sensible an idea for Fox, I'm sure, but that's just my opinion.

16. All of the so-called "holy" books were written by men.
As such, they're not perfect. Some Christians have used the words of Paul to bash GLBTs and people "living in sin." The Q'uran bashes Jews. The Old Testament bashes Philistines (or whoever happens to be in the way of the advancing Israelites). It's human nature to bash.

Religion is merely a way to soothe our fears of mortality and create social constraints to keep the masses in line.

The difference is that I can insult Christianity and it will make some people mad but that's about it. But if I insult Islam they are likely to put a death contract out on me.

Yea, there might be some insane people who will declare a jihad on your ass if you dare insult Islam or the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), but that is their problem. They are brainwashed by terrorists. Of course that won't be of much comfort when you get blown to pieces by a terrorist bomb.
