Reality check - any primary challenge would be completely ignored by Obama
So there would be no debate/discussion or anything like it. NO REAL DIALOG IN OTHER WORDS! Take your perennial loser like Kucinich, Gravel, McKinney, etc -- why give them the time of day? Is Randall Terry worthy of debate?

And would a legit 2016 hopeful REAL candidate like Senator Gillibrand primary him? OF COURSE NOT. 2016 is hers if she chooses.

(disclosure-- I support Gillibrand in 2016)

4. Hosni Mubarek had an iron grip on power
He was gone in a few weeks. Same with Algeria, the Soviet Union and all manner of governments that wage war on their working class. They are suddenly history.

It happened in the US in 1933: thank God that Democrats were there to pick up the pieces. I hope (real) Democrats pick up the pieces this time, too.

8. I read a lot of history, do you? Are you saying that these regimes did not suddenly end?
Or what are you saying?

9. Likely, it'll take several hundred million dollars to mount a formidable primary challenge.
And to be on the safe side, one may probably need a billion dollars. It's expensive to run a national campaign.

10. I'm saying equating the two things is laughable.
You might as well say that because an earthquake can hit Japan, that means it's perfectly reasonable to expect a volcano to form in the middle of New York City.

3. A primary would be a waste of time and money for the Democratic Party.
What would be smart for Obama and the Democrats is to schedule some very hi-profile QA/debate forums where the issues can be discussed, maybe with Democratic voter participation via the internet - I'd love to see Democrats vote on the topics to be discussed and provide feedback by voting on the solutions offered. Give fellow up and coming Democrats some facetime to a national audience.

We don't want to have Republicans suck up all of the media oxygen in the run-up to the GE.

6. Off topic, but if I may ask, where are you from?
I'm trying to figure out if you're one of the Gillibrand 2016 types I may have interacted with elsewhere.

7. A primary challenge would do more for the GOP than anyone else
Why does no one see this?

11. Ralph Nader certainly sees it.
He's rushing out to try and maximize value for his owners.

12. 2016 is way to far out for anyone to have a lock on it

assuming it is hers if she wants it has no basis in reality

13. I didn't say "lock" but the important point is that from a strategic
perspective of "moving Obama left" a primary would be worthless because it would be ignored.
