Whatever happened to: It is better that ten guilty go free than
one innocent man be punished wrongly.

This is the very foundation of our system of
Justice. I can remember hearing this so often
years ago.

It becomes dangerous when Law and Order sentiment
becomes to mean Protect the System at all costs.

I fear we are slipping into a type of Conservative
Law and order where they see questioning an outcome
as an attack on the system and they feel compelled
to dig in. Changing their minds(Prosecutors) would
denote weakness. Making a mistake does not denote
weakness. Fearing to correct the mistake is the weakness.

We have come to a point where people are not aloud to make
mistakes. That is bad. Everyone makes mistakes,
including the members of Justice system. Not being able
to ADMIT a mistake without the Media and the mobs
coming down on you, is not a healthy society.
Above all Protecting the System from assault can be
taken to extreme and bad things can happen as a result.
