This pattern of huge ups and downs seems to be the new plan for the rich to get richer. Buy low, sell high, and do it again in the next month or so. I think this will continue till after the elections next year, at least. Just like in the Bush years, those on wall street have been taking advantage of the fact republicans control the house, and they know nothing will be done to stop this kind of insane trading, because Boehner and Cantor will make sure nothing stops them! Another good reason to get rid of these greedy scumbags!

11. Excatly ... my original post on this was short ... but ...

if you go back and track the DOW under Bush, from 2000 to 2007 it runs within the same range you and I are seeing.

Then it spikes to 14k, then falls to 6.5k.

And then in less then a year, back to 10.5k.

I'll manage my 401k against this model for a while because it works. And because I see what the GOP is doing. If we break 11.5k, I shift SOME (not all), if we hit 12k, shift more. And when we go lower ... I look to buy at around 10.5.

But even then only "some" ... if we drop more, then I'll consider the conditions, and maybe buy more.

The key for me is to manage that money on the side.

As the dow gets higher I build a cash position, as it falls, my cash position gets smaller, as I buy back in.

My time horizon is longer. I'm in my 40s. And as I do this, I am actually conservative. I make small moves relative to this model. Add some, add some, take some, take some.

And as we know, the GOP is not about helping US make money. But since they rigged the game, I'll play.
