Elizabeth Warren Strikes Terror Into Rush Limbaugh’s Heart
There can be no greater sign of just how afraid of Elizabeth Warren the right truly is than Rush Limbaugh’s rant against Warren on his radio show today.

Limbaugh said, “How many people does it take? The taxes of how many people does it take to pay Elizabeth Warren? The tuition of how many students to pay Elizabeth Warren. I’d like to know how many pensions she has. At Harvard, Rutgers, time at the White House, time at TARP with Dingy Harry. If she’s elected to the Senate, how many pensions is this woman? Social Security, we pay a lot of money to Ms. Warren. She’s a parasite. She’s a parasite who hates her host. Willing to destroy the host while she sucks the life out of it. Roads, bridges, firefighters and policemen, nobody got rich because everybody has to use them and we all pay for that. Well who built the trucks? Who laid the concrete and the asphalt, as though government does all of this.”

Limbaugh then retold the story of The Little Red Hen, and said that somebody needs to read it to Warren. Later Limbaugh closed by driving home his message that Warren is as un-American as Obama, “I cannot emphasize this enough, that this exactly the way Obama views this country in the rest of the world. This is the thinking behind Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.”

*snip*

Limbaugh’s attack on Warren proved just how frightened of her they really are. All it took was the release of one poll showing her leading Scott Brown to send them into full panic mode. What’s scares people like Limbaugh isn’t Warren herself, but her message. Elizabeth Warren has a resume that is chocked full of evidence of her concern for regular Americans and her tireless advocacy for consumer protection against deceptive financial products.

Rush Limbaugh’s attack on Warren implies that everyone who isn’t rich is a parasite on the economy. His message is that the other 98% of Americans exist only because of the efforts of the top 2%. Warren’s advocacy seems to be the kind of return on their investment that many Americans want. In this time of economic sorrow and despair, Warren’s message that the government should be working for most Americans instead of against them is a powerful one.

Elizabeth Warren is refuting the conservative message of selfishness, and elitist “job creators.” The Republican Party is so frightened by Elizabeth Warren that they have deployed Rush Limbaugh to take her down.

42. That's too easy a question to answer
It's because she truly is a person who lived the American Dream and "pulled herself up by her bootstraps", but understand that those "bootstraps" were there because of the American people providing a "leg-up" to people who want to use it.

She's a self-made success, who was able to be "self-made" because of the "hand-up" she got from the American people.

She is Limbaugh's worst nightmare, A successful American who is NOT selfish! That scares the living Santorum out of him.

12. The problem with Rush's Story
is he's telling it wrong. The big corporate hen got the farmers to clear the land, then plant the wheat, water it, weed it,and harvest it. The millers then ground it into flour. The big corporate hen then got the bakery to mix it bake it and deliver it. Problem was when it came time to pay these people for their work they were paid in crumbs. Not even enough crumbs to feed themselves much less their families.

Only the truly sick-in-soul will be able to bear listening to him twist the truth into utter whiney gibberish...

1000 coordinated radio stations with NO real time challenge. protected by call screeners and prompted by paid callers.

no picketing of those radio stations. no major campaign to shame their local sponsors that pay the overhead, or of the universities that endorse the racism and hate and global warming denial every week when they broadcast sports on those stations.

23. I heard the show, her comments were fucking AWESOME!!! They deserve their own OP.

"I hear all this, you know, 'Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever,' "

"No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody."

"You built a factory out there? Good for you,"

"But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for."

"You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did."

"Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea?"

"God bless. Keep a big hunk of it."

"But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along."

35. "Elitist 'job creators'" -- thank you!!!!!
Something about the term "job creators" has bugged me since the day I heard it. I should have guessed that it's because it's another perfect example of the right doing or being something that they accuse the left of doing or being -- in this case, being elitist. It's not that job creators are elitist, but the use of the condescending, patronizing term "job creators" to describe the wealthy, most certainly is.

Limbaugh has previously categorized non-wealthy Americans as failures by insisting that the rich are the successful Americans. So it's no big surprise to find him throwing them under the bus as parasites, too.

54. but there isNO organized challenge to team limbaugh- to get warren's back.
thing is, just noticing this attack doesn't mean anyone is getting warren's back. like all the other progressives RW radio attacks and swiftboats, and limbaugh is just the point man, after weeks and months of this from the same stations that do our state university athletics and advertise the local pizza place and do the local traffic reports, will the attacks and lies and threats become acceptable? will they become truth in the rest of the media?

this crap, the same as with acorn and van jones and gore and kerry and obama, is just going to keep going until the left finally stops giving the RW radio monopoly a free speech free ride.

picketing, local sponsor boycotts and shaming, and getting our universities out of right wing radio are a minimum if we want to be able to say we are getting warrens back, or any other progressive. warren might be able to hold her own at this point but we can't keep expecting all our reps to have tokeep a gun by the door and still have a real democracy.

59. More of a Corporatist
"that this exactly the way Obama views this country in the rest of the world. This is the thinking behind Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution.”

Really? Is Rush's audience still this stupid that they'd believe that Obama is in any way left wing? How can people honestly look at Obama's record and say he is Left of even Bill Clinton? He's the most centrist Democratic President in modern history and these jokers are still comparing him to Communists. Obama is not anywhere near far left enough for me or I would guess most of the posters here. He's a centrist and stronger arguments can be made that he's actually right of center rather than left.

How can such total and utter nonsense fly with his Audience?

98. you are wrong. this is the beginning of the same kind of swiftboating all significant liberals get f
from them. and it is often successful- whether it takes a week or years, because the left has no fucking clue.

the more attention he gets the better- the only reason he makes the money he does, selling war and deregulation and charachter assassination, is that he get to do it from a bubble.

i don't give a shit how much he makes.

65. It's funny because his own statements disprove the fallacy of the "rugged individualist"...
"Well who built the trucks? Who laid the concrete and the asphalt, as though government does all of this."

First off, like Ms. Warren said - those people all benefited from a public education system, and those are government funded (through tax payer money) construction jobs.

But, more importantly, I'll tell you who didn't "build the trucks" or "lay the concrete and asphalt" - that rich, upper-crust fuck who's sitting back and raking in all the money. It was the muscle and sweat of the "working class" - overworked and underpaid (guess that would make them the "overworked class"). This, like I said, goes to show how any talk of this Ayn Rand-y, "bootstraps," "rugged individualism" bullshit is complete fantasyland.

And, just to clarify - those working class blokes are getting (under)paid solely for the jobs that they directly do, while the rich fuck, fat-cat is sitting back, benefiting from, and getting paid for the collective of jobs each of those workers do.

So, who's the real parasite?

80. The answer to your question is "Rush Limbaugh".
He is a walking, talking definition of 'Parasite'.

In earlier times in human history, he would have starved to death as a person unwilling to work to help feed even himself.

75. I think the threat she poses to the right is not that she can stop
what they are trying to do or launch liberal initiatives in the Senate. Rather, they need to pick off the Democrats' left flank(s) in order to control the discourse, so that those views (or those Feingold, Kuccnich, Grayson, etc>) can be labeled as outside the mainstream.

a Teabag. I want them all to keep talking, keep projecting, keep letting out the crazy, the more they talk, the more they out themselves to most of the country as the misanthropes they really are.

Instead, let's talk about his salary. How much should a cruel, thoughtless ideologue, a propagandist who's employed to stay ignorant and spread ignorance be paid? How many teachers could we pay if we weren't paying him? How much mental damage would we not be paying for?
