We were their only defense/ pushback against institutionalized racism for a while, especially hotel workers. For a while, people were afraid to leave their homes to go to the doc or the grocery store or take their kids to school.

I do think it's a good idea to tread lightly with these actions and only follow through if there is support and if the damage is outweighed by the good.

I don't think it's too radical to claim that without economic impact, popular will is DOA in these United States as they are today.

Economic impact is probably one of the most effective ways to get policy changed, but not the only way.

The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act is a good example. I can't readily ascertain that any economic impact was required to get this legislation passed.
