Homeland Security Makes Appearance at Occupy Wall Street
In addition to the macing captured on video yesterday, new reports are coming in that the Department of Homeland Security’s Chemical And Biological Response Unit has made an appearance at Occupy Wall Street.

The Intel Hub reports that Chemical and Biological Response Units from the Department Of Homeland Security have been confirmed to be “surrounding and converging” on Occupy Wall Street Protesters. From the videos posted, it’s unclear what DHS is doing there. They claim to be just checking it out on a detour from the 9/11 memorial site.

Asked what they are doing there, one of the DHS personnel said that they were just tourists who came to see the crowd, “It could have been Mickie Mouse, don’t read into it…”

Dressed as they are in khakis and polos, they don’t appear to be doing much more than sight-seeing, but after yesterday’s reports of unnecessary macing, it might be best to withhold judgement until further information becomes available. It’s unnerving to see the DHS show up at a protest, and even if they really are just gawking, they should have known better than to show up with the DHS logo on their shirts. Sometimes you have to wonder at the utter cluelessness of government officials. Way to tamp down the paranoia, guys.

1. Strange how they never make any appearances at tea party rallies.

3. Tea Party rallies are sponsored BY the bankers. They're not
the enemy - we are.

5. The girl that got maced said that there were "rough people out there"
These types take advantage of the situation to stir things up.

4. In all fairness - there could be concern that some whacks
would take advantage of the large crowd in order to make a "statement". But then, DHS wouldn't probably have shown up advertising who they were.

Or, sometimes a cigar...

Bottom line is they were there. We'll have to wait and see what, if anything, that really means.

12. Then shouldn't they be in uniform at every S. Baptist and Catholic church in the country

every Sunday? McVeigh, Bombers in Alabama. And that leaves out all the meetings of the Nazi's and others.

Plenty of wackos there, some of whom have actually acted out violently, (as opposed to this crowd). They came from those groups. And they sell them coffee at Burger King, too. Irony...

The folks in the plaza look directionless, but harmless. I haven't heard any suggesting violence on the administration, as opposed to some of the political speeches I have heard by sitting representatives and radio shows. I don't see Homeland Insecurity with a visible presence around them.

Just a hint - the guy that left the nail bomb on Spokane's street during the last MLK parade had way shorter hair than most of them -here.

Those poncho-wearing laptop-using sleeping-bag-ensconced kids ain't the scary MoFo's you think they are.

Here's a tip for the cops - see who is next to you in homeless shelter in a few years. I guarantee it won't be those folks drinking champagne on the balcony. You may well feel a bit of kinsmanship with these folks you are macing today. And I bet they don't hold it against you, when you eat the food they make.

13. Good points, and I kind of rethought my idea as I was typing
it. And your tip for cops -- I was wondering WHY they felt these people fighting for fairness were THEIR enemies? Maybe the ones macing them are on the take and taking the sides of those who can AFFORD to pay them off?

Baffling. And SO discouraging. :(

15. I can very easily see why they would think they should be there,

these people are threatening the order of things, so to speak.

You are absolutely right, someone could rise up, seemingly from inside the group, and hurt someone. That's the problem with loosely organized groups - you may well get painted with behavior you had no part in and nothing to do with.

If the authorities would stop and think about it, however, there are far more dangerous people out there, (likely on that balcony above them - think about what violence Wall Street has visited on people's lives) and if they would give this group a little respect maybe they would reject any really violent behavior and police themselves.

We have been conditioned for years to fear the wrong things. This isn't much different.

7. They have to protect their masters on Wall Street.
The DHS is a fucking reflection of the dictator that wanted to crush democracy and rule the country. Remember, GWB said it would be so much easier if he was the dictator and it shows after his 8 years of destroying America!

8. what if they are there to "stage an event" that would completely discredit the movement?
Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 11:16 PM by BadGimp
ok yeah that's crazy... no way people could infiltrate our government and create false flag operations to turn the Sheeple against a popular movement right? Of course not, I must be crazy.

I mean big money is on our side right?

nevermind...

9. Thats real casual wear, usually worn by those going to class or as in this case visiting.
They don't appear to have weapons and DHS has lots of various divisions. They have had Chem & Bio units in the city prior to the 911 Memorials.

10. They may be "just monitoring" chem or bio agents dispersed by other agents.
Our wonderfully sane secret police have, unfortunately, a long, well-documented history of doing the worst things the paranoids can suspect them of.
