Anyone catch 60 Minutes tonight?
Leslie Stahl's segment was on the neo-Nazi from San Bernardino who was recently murdered in his sleep by his 10 year old son. Quite a disturbing piece.

But what I found telling was what the murdered man's mom -- who now apparently has custody of the other children -- had to say when asked what kind of political instruction she would give the kids.

To paraphrase, she said the kids won't be raised as Nazis, but rather as "conservative Republicans" -- because there aren't enough of those in Southern California.

Dad didn't have to be a Nazi. He could have been an NRA hunting enthusiast who beat his kid and taught him how to use a gun and where it was kept.

12. Yeah, she also blamed the economy for her son becoming a neo-Nazi. I tend to
think the reason he became a neo-Nazi is because she and whomever his dad is, did a very poor job raising their son. JMO... It really was a very sad story. I thought it was particularly weird that the mother said she knew her grandson would kill her son someday; she just thought he would be older when he did it. WTF is wrong with that lady.

13. "...because there aren't enough of them in Southern California"?
That same uneducated reasoning can be used to raise them as anything from neo-Nazis to Moonies. if she wants them to be conservative republicans, at least pick some vague policy issues that she values.

I see where her son got the upbringing that set him on the path to his grave. Let's hope the kids can see the slim difference between their dad and grandma's family values.

I'm not hopeful for those kids at all.
