The next time you protest, I've two words for you: Bio Shield
Its a moist towelette sold at cop shops that's used by pigs, er I mean cops, when the pepperspray flies back in their face.

Go buy all you can online or from your local cop shop before the protest and carry lots of water. Having been sprayed, it works. Also carry plenty of bandanas to tie over your mouth and nose. Soak them in water and cover your face.

Good luck out there kiddies

The standard Republicon practice is to do Condom Donnage well after-the-um-sexual-fACT, then to smirkily Harrangue others to 'Go Absty' as if that would make you RAPturd Ready (R).

I have always suspected the Absty Chasty harrangue thingy that so-called Xties lay onto others was, occulty, just a way of eLiMinATing comPETition and thereBY INCREASING THE ODDS that they will score.

Not that this rant has a damn thing to do with Wall Street gassings of America's citizens...but it needed to be said.

That crap can severely impact any mucous membrane, but it is when the eyes are sprayed that one becomes so incapacitated.

Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 09:19 PM by Confusious
They way I think it works is that the pepper has oil, which is the hot part, and the vinegar being an acid is more effective in wiping the oil away then just water alone.

I think I read about the pepper and oil somewhere learning to cook ( trying at least ) curry sauce.

I could be wrong though.

56. Don't know, but it is fermented
Edited on Tue Sep-27-11 07:08 PM by formercia
I wouldn't put it in my eyes. Vegetable oil might be another good choice. Don't use Butter unless it's unsalted. Regular butter will sting. Use common sense. The point is to use something oil based that won't irritate your eyes. The active ingredient in Pepper Spray is oil-soluble, so you will need something compatible to remove it from your eyes and skin.

More info on Buttermilk:

Buttermilk refers to a number of dairy drinks. Originally, buttermilk was the liquid left behind after churning butter out of cream. It also refers to a range of fermented milk drinks, common in warm climates (e.g., Middle East, Pakistan, India, or the Southern United States) where fresh milk would otherwise sour quickly.<1> It is also popular in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, despite the colder climates.

Buttermilk may also refer to a fermented dairy product produced from cow's milk with a characteristically sour taste caused by lactic acid bacteria. This variant is made in one of two ways:cultured buttermilk is made by adding lactic acid bacteria (Streptococcus lactis) to milk; Bulgarian buttermilk is created with a different strain of bacteria called Lactobacillus bulgaricus, which creates more tartness.

Whether traditional or cultured, the tartness of buttermilk is due to the presence of acid in the milk. The increased acidity is primarily due to lactic acid, a byproduct naturally produced by lactic acid bacteria while fermenting lactose, the primary sugar found in milk. As lactic acid is produced by the bacteria, the pH of the milk decreases and casein, the primary protein in milk, precipitates causing the curdling or clabbering of milk. This process makes buttermilk thicker than plain milk. While both traditional and cultured buttermilk contain lactic acid, traditional buttermilk tends to be less viscous whereas cultured buttermilk is more viscous.

And for trying to get people to quit the stereotype, i will give some advice.

I am a former leo. i can tell you from experience that the bio-shield does not work that well. Not worth the money at all. Milk actually does work pretty good. I will tell you how to go about it.

If you know you are gonna get sprayed. Wipe a little Vaseline on yourself. They make some pretty stylish goggles that look like small glasses. get them. Carry a bandanna or a type 95 dust mask on you. And always carry an extra set of clothes.

If you get sprayed. Hold your breath until you can get the bandanna over your mouth or get the mask on. Here's the biggest thing. DO NOT RUB ANYTHING. Have someone or yourself pour water on your face. wash your hands. Pull off your shirt and repeat the process. You can then wash off the Vaseline and repeat all the steps.

most of the police did the job they were there for. We do not want to alienate those policemen. They talked about them being part of the 90% just like the rest of us and vulnerable to the same Wall Street greed. We need to remember the army in Egypt and the police in Wisconsin.

However, that action was not just a few rotten apples in the barrel. Someone at the top authorized the use of Bologna who had been cited for violence during the rethug convention and someone handed out the mace. That individual is worthy of a few names.

43. It's not wise to bring mace or pepper spray to a gun fight ...
If you are a bad ass cop who plans to pick on someone, three harmless and unarmed girls are a much easier and safer target than risking pissing off some strange fool who is legally openly carrying a loaded firearm at a political event.

I should note that I have a concealed carry permit and I carry a concealed snub nosed .38 caliber revolver but I am a Democrat and not a member of the Tea Party. Many Democrats own firearms and more than just a few have carry permits. It's a common misconception that all Democrats oppose firearm ownership unless the firearms are used for target shooting or hunting.

In most areas, carrying a weapon in public and assembling for political redress are completely legal. Occupying a public space to the point that other people can't use it isn't. We break the law and they don't.

59. I want a few packages of Billy Club Shield before I do any more protesting
I still have bumps on my head that won't go away to this day from the 1960's.

62. I dunno about these and eyes. Back in the day we wore wet bandanas and
bike or motorcycle helmets. It doesn't really keep you safe from serious police efforts at crowd control (corralling) using horses, mace launchers or squad cars...
But, it will usually allow you to help pull to safety folks that are less prepared.

73. As far as protests go, they protect and serve if you're nice and Baggerific.
As shown above, y'all can beat up all the liberals you want and all you'll get is "away with it".

They never brandished 3 foot riot batons or shields at 9/12, the Gathering of the Assholes or any TeaHad event.

Nooooo . . . they save the riot gear for OUR protests against OUR protestors.

Witness the 2005 vs 2009 Inaugural events. I was at both and I was literally stunned at the contrast of protection given the two Presidents. The 2005 Coronation had literally a mile of 3-5 rows of shoulder-to-shoulder close-knit troopers, all in full gear, all the way down the route. Literally a wall of protection (they pepper sprayed and clubbed more than a few people that day).

2009? Not even close. Single row of police, each spaced about 15-20 feet apart.

Those who say that police treat all members of society equally are lying to themselves.
