So I went down the rabbit hole... Jews for Sarah Palin
http://jewsforsarah.com/

And I looked at importnat members...

Jonathan S Tobin is a far right, Neo Con.... in fact, a regular at National Review Online...

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is a far right Chasidic Rabbi. There is more... if there is an end of days part of the faith and it is coming... you got it. So in a perverse way he is a fellow traveller that he supports. Now you'd think that getting tortured to death since he is not perfected would drive him away... but hey, whatever. (Two very different visions of the end of days)

Aaron Goldstein is again a regular at NRO and a not so well known Neocon...

Of course here you go on far right rabbi... Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, if any of you remember that History program on how the Exodus really happened. he was one of the producers.

And of course, though not a member, Alan Dershowitz is also in the support of St. Sarah.

So to say that these guys are mainstream Jews, is like saying that Wasilla Congregation of God is also a mainstream Church.

Oy...

Now somebody throw a rope down so I can climb up from this rabbit hole.

1. Can't be a big organization
I would imagine that they could hold joint meetings with the Turkeys for Christmas group in a telephone booth, and still have plenty of room.

5. If she sucks up to the Israeli right, her use of the term "blood libel" will be forgiven
The majority of American Jews may be liberal, but the ones that aren't wield a lot of power. Throw Christian Zionism into the mix and there's no reason to suppose that a blatantly anti-Semitic slur will harm her standing with the neocons, as long as she uncritically supports Likud policies in Israel.

9. Well Christian Zionism is at it's core antisemitic
I know hard to swallow.

But they want Israel to be there, for all Jews to move there... and then the Christ will come back.

And for these far right Eschatological Jews... to be fair.. have all Jews move to Israel, rebuild the temple and walla the Messiah finally will come.

Yes we can force the end to come... and all the glory will come.

I am making fun of very dangerous people but... I realize the danger.

Oh and certain quarters of the Likud believe this crap too.

19. And the endgame is, the Jews convert or die.
And the RW Jews think they are using the Christian Zionists - the delusiion runs both ways.

20. Of course, since well, we know very well
that after the temple is built, the Messiah will come and all the peoples will see the light... and be saved with the people of the lord.

Manichean is one way to describe this.

And to most Secular Americans this is as foreign as well... speaking in tongues...

14. They're Jews, so everybody hates them -- and for Jesus, so the Jews hate them!
I grew up in a largely Jewish neighborhood, knew no fundy Christians. But we did know orthodox Jews, which created my model for unreality growing up.

18. They come in many flavors.
I had a cousin, whom I met once as a child. He was disabled in WWII, and ran a cult called the Hebrew Christians from his wheelchair.

When I lived in New York, the Jews for Jesus, mostly kids, "love-bombed" us with greeting card sentiments. Now here in Florida, I see Millennial Synagogues  and know of some, in Israel, who dress like Hassidim, but believe in Jesus.

What's more scary is that this is within the realm of normal behavior. Nobody has the blueprint for reality, and you can't condemn somebody because they believe something that doesn't comport with reality. So where is the line?

It's mental!

21. Most of these guys are pretty harmless
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 04:14 PM by nadinbrzezinski
that is Christian and Jews... (and muslims, don't forget they also have their own escahtological nutsos)... but there is a small minority that are down right well... dangerous. In my mind Sarah falls in the well... dangerous category. Last person I want with nuclear codes is her... as incredible as it sound, El Presidente was more rational than her. After all El Presnit was using them... to get power. Sarah believes in the crap.

The end-time beliefs in Judaism and Islam. I had never heard about them until recently. Could you elaborate a little? Thanks. :hi:

23. For judaism it goes like this
The world was created and it will have four ages... in the end the world will last 6000 years.

We are near the 6000 year mark.

At the end of days the people of Israel will return to the land and build the second temple. This is in preparation for the first coming. The day that the Messiah comes, it will be judgement day with most souls going to Shohel... where they are to be assessed. Those who deserve it will go to heaven... (not just Jews)... and there they will live forever in a land of eternal peace, close to the glory of god. Those who don't will go down to the fires of Gihon... (A fairly recent development, as hell and fire were not part of it... it is like the last 100 years) And yes the fires of hell are more like not being close to the glory of the lord, more than a hell full of demons and all that.

The state of Israel will be restored, for ever and ever and ever, and all the peoples will turn their swords into plowshares and live under the glory and all that.

Of note, there is no forced conversion... people will just see the light.

This is why when they started going over we need to build the third temple and get rid of a certain mosque (talk a full fledged middle eastern war)... I went into OH MY these guys are fucking serious and dangerous

As to Muslim... I am not familiar with that one at all... but I know it exists...

24. Thanks. I know they both exist. The media said Ahmadenajad
is a Muslim end-timer when he was first elected, which was the first I'd heard of Islam having such a faction, but I knew one existed in Judaism before that. That these groups all seem to be growing in power and influence at the same time - now - is very distressing. And I don't see how refusing to acknowledge or even recognize that this is happening allows us to effectively prevent or thwart their dangerous, evil goals.

16. I went there too- but it gave me a stomach ache. Ugh. Sending you a rope to climb up!
I was tempted to send them a note or a comment but decided not to go down THAT rabbit hole as well. Cannot figure out Dershowitz- what's up with him? I always thought of him as being way smarter then to be a fan of Sarah. As far as how large this group of Jews for Sarah actually is, I cannot imagine there would be all that many of them. But then again, I could be wrong. Much to my surprise, the Log Cabin Republicans are not as small as I had imagined either. And i'm constantly amazed at how many Jewish republicans there are as well so who knows?

17. Alan does not shock me at all
in his youth he was a hard cord trotskyte, but if you read his writing there is a core of authoritarian belief in it.

So Sarah is a leader... not in a good way... and she believes Israel should exist... so Alan will kindly ignore the rest of the eschatology.. you know the not so tasty bits... like Jews either convert or are tortured to death...

Oh and thankee... self rescue is always such a drag.
