Libya: Civilians In large numbers now accuse NATO of a GENOCIDE.
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 06:35 PM by Distant Observer
The lies of the "rebels" are now exposed as Western reporters are confronted by the horrors of the NATO-backed rebels' methods of war. But how many reports will actually get printed or broadcast?

Tribal as well as ethnic cleansing seems to be the final method of regime change employed by the West.

Sirte civilians accuse NATO of genocide

CIVILIANS pouring out of the besieged city of Sirte accused NATO of committing genocide yesterday as revolutionary forces reinforced their numbers and prepared for a new attack on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's home town.

Long lines of civilian vehicles were seen leaving after a night punctuated by NATO air attacks. Forces fighting for the National Transitional Council (NTC) added their own artillery and mortar rounds at regular intervals.

Civilians, many looking scared or sullen, said that conditions inside Sirte were "disastrous". They made claims which, if verified, offer a conundrum for Nato, which operates with a UN mandate on the need to protect civilian life.

"It has been worse than awful," said Riab Safran, 28, as his car was searched by revolutionary fighters. His family had been sleeping on the beach, he said.

"They have hit all kinds of buildings: schools, hospitals," he said, referring to NATO airstrikes.

1. Well, you knew that it was just a matter of time before the cries for war...
morphed into accusations of war crimes.

2. I really thought that with a mission of "protecting civilians" NATO would leave massacres to locals

10. is Orwell laughing or crying?
"Every war when it comes, or before it comes,
is represented not as a war
but as an act of self-defense against a homicidal maniac."

"Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable,
and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind."

5. what you need is about three people to keep making comments until this thread is reallyreally long
and to post similar reports every day so you would have the gravitas of that other thread.

i'm saying you have to be professional about it.

7. i think the word genocide is overused in general. it means wiping out populations.
as defined by race, sex, language, culture, ethnicity, national origin, religion.

it doesn't mean torturing or killing some of one's political opponents or shooting demonstrators.

8. I agree. But the determination to destroy Tribal support for Gaddafi comes nearest
in this tragic conflict.

The big lie in the West was always the myth of no support for the dictator.
After 20,000 Nato sorties and countless bombs, I think that myth is a bit tarnished.

9. you'd never know it to read on that other thread, though.
nato's magic bombs are directed only to evil people.

they are evil-seeking bombs.

16. But wait, I thought that NATO involvement was a good thing.
I thought that US involvement, via NATO, was a good thing. I was told that over and over by certain folks here, folks whose support for Obama blinds them to the horrifying realities of war.
