(CNN) -- A 26-year-old Massachusetts man with a physics degree was arrested and charged Wednesday with plotting an attack on the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol with a remote-controlled model aircraft, authorities said.
Rezwan Ferdaus, a U.S. citizen from Ashland, Massachusetts, planned to use model aircraft filled with C-4 plastic explosives, authorities said.

As a result of an undercover FBI investigation, Ferdaus, who has a physics degree from Northeastern University in Boston, was charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to al Qaeda for attacks on U.S. soldiers overseas, authorities said.

His federal public defender couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
A law enforcement official said Ferdaus posed no immediate danger to the public because undercover operatives kept in close contact with him.

"There is no information to indicate he was connected to a foreign terrorist organization. It appears he was radicalized watching videos on the internet. He was given the opportunity to back down, but he never wavered" from his intention to carry out the attacks, the source said.

The FBI agents also gave Ferdaus six AK-47 assault rifles and three grenades, but they weren't functional, the source said."

18. It's been their MO for a while now to seek people out, convince them to attack,

provide them the (fake) materials for the attack, and then arrest them and claim they're protecting us. I'm not a lawyer or anything and I don't know much about entrapment, but it sounds like it fits the bill. Either way, it's very much a stretch to believe this is keeping us safe. And it's a dangerous game... how long will it be until they successfully radicalize someone, convince them to attack, but then that person comes up with their own plan instead of going along with the FBI's plan? Hell, someone might even figure out that it's possible they have to test their own explosives beforehand after reading articles about these arrests. It's a very dangerous game.

But it's one we've been playing for decades. We got good at convincing Muslims to blow themselves up in Afghanistan in the 80s. That turned out just peachy. Now we're doing it at home. Genius.

On February 1, 2005 the media reported that a hostage had been taken in Iraq. Broadcasts showed a photo (top) of a U.S. soldier sitting on the ground with a rifle pointed at his head. The photo came from an internet bulletin board frequently used by Iraqi rebels, where it was accompanied by this statement:

The Mujahideen Squadron had kidnapped a Brazilian engineer the previous month, so although the U.S. military denied any soldier was missing, the threat seemed credible. However, many bloggers questioned the photo, pointing out that the soldier was strangely expressionless for someone with a rifle pointed at his head and his arms twisted behind his back. The gun also looked fake.

Within hours American toy manufacturer Dragon Models USA Inc. issued a statement noting that "John Adam" closely resembled its Cody action-figure doll (middle). A side-by-side comparison revealed the two to be one and the same.

find the timing of this story suspicious, given the police brutality that was happening on Wall St.? Kind of like TPTB had this story in the bag and were waiting to break it for a time when they needed a distraction.
