Ralph Nader Hearts Ron Paul, Hails Potential Left-Libertarian Alliance

Please note: Reason is a libertarian source, and I use them as a hostile witness against Ralph Nader's strategy and tactics.

11. Anyone who takes away any progressive votes helps to throw the election.
Nader threw Florida to Bush, and that cost Gore the election. It could easily happen again that Obama wins the popular vote, but Nader or someone like him could siphon off enough votes in a swing state to again throw the election to the Rethug.

19. If Nader in aligns himself with Paul he's more of a power crazed loser-weasel
than I thought.

24. Perhaps because "progressive" websites run around repeating lies and propaganda?
Because there's a very well funded effort to convince people that Obama isn't on our side?

33. Who, praytell, is "funding an effort" to convince the Left that Obama isn't on "our" side?
The Koch brothers?

The furry freak brothers?

The brothers Karamozov?

I am personally convinced that Obama isn't on my side... who paid for my brainwashing?

(Inquiring minds want to know...)

37. Gore is progressive and he lost progressive votes to Nader,
whose lie was that Gore and Bush were the same and it wouldn't matter which one of them was elected.

Would Gore have started the war in Iraq?
Would Gore have worked for the environment?
Would Gore have ignored for four days the suffering of the people in NOLA?

10. Many of the people now flocking to Ron Paul have never been libertarians.
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 10:48 PM by woo me with science
and don't need to be libertarians.

They are Americans who are desperate and angry that both major parties have abandoned them in order to fellate the banks and fund the wars. They are looking for a candidate, any candidate, who will begin to reverse this path toward their impoverishment and devastation. Many are flocking to him because he is the ONLY candidate talking about ending the wars and auditing/holding the banks accountable.

Most of his new supporters are probably not hardcore libertarians at all. Many are willing to overlook the scarier aspects of Paul's libertarianism solely because of these two momentous issues. They are trying to send a message about their utter frustration with the two major parties.

Yes, Paul's supporters include a core of hardcore libertarians who hate all government. But his candidacy is growing now precisely because times are so desperate and people are looking for any candidate who will promise major change in these areas.

These people are potential Democrats, if only the Democratic Party would offer them something.

Where is our Democratic candidate who will curtail the warmongering?
Where is our Democratic candidate who will hold the banks accountable?

Don't insult Paul supporters. Reach out to them. And call, write, protest, and push Democrats to act like Democrats....because right now, this party is looking like Republican II.

13. Earth to Nader: he's not on our side.
Paul's not on our side on unions. He's not on our side about Social Security. He's not on our side about Medicare. He's not on our side about public health care. He's not on our side about public education. He's not on our side about the environment. He's not on our side about women's choice.

Although maybe Paul and Nader really are on the side same . . . which would explain why Nader helped throw the election to the Rethugs in 2000.

25. Were you upset when Obama's education Secretary teamed up with Newt Gingrich?
http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/on-education/2009/08/17/arne-duncan-al-sharpton-and-newt-gingrich-join-forces

"In an effort to push cities to fix failing schools and highlight the Obama administration's programs to reform public education, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and civil rights leader Al Sharpton will join Education Secretary Arne Duncan on a tour of cities later this year."

Or was that just "politics".
