1. Boo hoo. Look who's waiting to get in.
If that's not a problem, then the apathetics can lay down, take a nap on election day and let the GOP take it.

3. I don't blame Dem voters one bit for not being enthusiastic about Obama
he has let down progressives in a monumental way, has us in 2 - maybe 3 wars, gave tax cuts to billionaires, sides with corporations, big banks, and wall street constantly, would not fight for us on health care - hell he wouldn't even mention the words "single payer", covered up the WAR CRIMES of Bush/Cheney - and has continued many of the horrible polices that were enacted under Bush. Ezra Klein's analysis is that his policies show him to be a moderate Republican, and I agree.

Do you REALLY want apathetic Dems to lay down and not vote - or should the Obama people give them a reason to go vote for him? A reason that is not - "Well at least I'm better than the other guys".

13. No, I was being sarcastic.
But seriously? If people don't see what damage this GOP field can do to the country, then...there's not much to say.

I really don't care much about the hemming and hawing and nose-holding that has to accompany people on their way to the polls. I know I will cast a vote that helps keep this GOP away from more power.

24. Obama has plenty of time to ingratiate himself with
Dem. voters. I'm anxious to see what he does with the time left besides give some great speeches.
Voters want to vote for him, they don't want to be made to feel like fools for doing so. Republicans are
not offering Independents a viable candidate and unless they do this is still Obama's election to lose.

12. Do you think any of the GOP field will improve matters when they're in the WH?
If you don't think so, are you going to vote for Obama, making the safe assumption that he will be the Dem nominee?

If that answer is "Yes", then who is the problem, and why?

From the Democratic party. Does this help Obama, or the republicans?

6. Don't worry, campaign Obama is slowly but steadily arousing from his three year estivation..
He will become more and more the fire breathing radical centrist as the election nears..

After November 2012 he will revert to Commander Bipartisanship..

17. Yep. Hard to get excited about running against an undetermined candidate.
Not to mention that much of the "enthusiasm" at this time in 2008 was because we were replacing the Village Idiot. When the GOP picks a new Village Idiot, I'm sure the "enthusiasm" will shoot right back up.

4. I think that's what the Obama admin is banking on
and how shameful - he might as well say - "I've really let yall down, but at least I'm not as bad as the other guys". What a terrible way to win re-election.

29. I think Dems will be very enthusiastic...now that obama has given up
trying to compromise with the stupid idiots and can now fight for the Democratic principles that he really believes in. We're going to see a big change in Obama.

34. he *says* he has given up
Some of us aren't willing to take him at his word. We'll wait till we see some REAL action on yet another *promise*. And not some piddle around the corners of the problem and then proclaim the piddle as historic - as he has done in the past.

Talking the talk has NOT meant walking the walk with this president in the past. To believe that is to be terminally naive.

35. He said he'd do something historic...How about passing the health care bill?
Give credit where credit is due. How about aiding DADT's repeal and lowering taxes on the middle class. People seem to forget he didn't have a filibuster proof congress and now they have the majority. He can't do the impossible or please everyone...especially the left wing of his base. Have patience! I think you will be pleased. :) You better be, or I'll be displeased along with you. He needs a filibuster proof congress. That will determine the direction of this country!

8. What does Obama expect?
When he's not busy caving to Republican demands, he's starting another war or raiding medical marijuana clinics...

That's not what I voted for in 2008..

9. Again, either we fall for this Corporate Media meme, or we get smart!
It is the Republican Party who doesn't like its candidates.

If Obama were in that much trouble, then why can the Teabagging Wingnuts rally behind one fucking candidate?

Instead, the Corporate Media continues to try and ram Mitt Romney down our throats.

Again, will we fall for it, or are ready to unite?

Note: Every voter is upset with politicians, including Obama right now! With the economy the way it is and a dysfunctional government, of course enthusiasm is going to be down! DUH!!!

18. You mean Democrats are more enthusiastic about voting when it means unseating
the incumbent Republican? Shock! Shock! Maybe we can try a Republican president all over again so we can get that enthusiasm level up.

22. The fact that Repubs suck worse than the Dems
and i acknowledge that as fact - but the gap between the two parties fuckin shit up is getting smaller all the time - with both being little more than cover for their corporate masters these days - a corporate style rule which Obama has done as good as any republican. people are sick of pro-corporate politicians - especially Dem ones cause the betrayal cuts deep - we expect that kind of shit from the repubs. If Obama loses he will only have himself to blame - well foxnoise and stupid people on the right are part of the problem too, but ultimately it falls on Obama and his overall very shitty pro-corporate policies.

Back to what I was saying - now that there is no Republican in the president's office, wouldn't it be reasonable to think that that is a factor for less enthusiasm?

27. There are some people you just can't talk to
and you're one of them. why don't you go make another pointless bouncy thread. i already told you my thoughts on it. if Obama even just SUPPORTED positive actions like single-payer, even if they didn't make it - people would support him for at least trying - but in many case he does not. that is why.

30. I mean, if it goes up because of a Republican president, wouldn't you expect
that it would go down when the Republican president goes away?

You can't talk to someone who would speculate that?

28. Harry Agrees with you. I agree with Harry.

"I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the Fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign."

32. Fortunately, the number of Democats that believe their President is phony is at a near 50 year low.

The one that believe this have believed it about every modern President. Nothing has satisfied them or will satisfiy them, and this is nothing new.

aren't satisfied with any President their party elects, that number is at an almost 50 year low with respect to Obama.
