Second. So let's see. We have catastrophic budget problems. The imperative given here is to cut taxes which PRODUCE revenue, but not to cut defense (offense) which COSTS an obscene amount of money. A sickening, untenable amount of money.

12. I had an exchange yesterday...

...with a commenter in our local paper, who said that no government has the right to confiscate the people's wealth. I asked them, show me a government that does not have the right to impose taxes? I said they are trying to spin it such that "taxes" means "confiscating wealth", without addressing how the government should obtain its funding. I asked if they were suggesting there should be no government? (I should have added, that would make you an anarchist) I said, even if you think the government's only function should be to provide for our defense, you still need taxes to fund that.

Needless to say, it fell on deaf ears.
