did Anonymous out the family members of the cop in NY. a poster claims that

it is well known that Anonymous did not do this and it was someone else that outed the family members.

on the first day the cop was outed by Anonymous i was pretty sure i went into the site and saw the names on Anonymous' site.

today listening to cenk at tyt, he said that they outed them.

did i miss something, or am i being fed garbage?

most people overestimate how safe their information is online. You don't need to hack to find information as it can be done in less than 20 minutes, through legal means.

It also looked like someone didn't do a whole lot of checking to make sure they were all connected to him, some looked like random people sharing the same name.

Identifying a bad cop is a good idea. Pointing the entire net toward his family is not. That's what they do.
