U.S. calls kin of American Al Qaeda
Source: The Hill

The U.S. State Department made a phone call to al Qaeda propagandist Samir Khan’s family to offer condolences after his death due to a U.S. drone strike in Yemen, it was reported.

State Department spokesman Harry Edwards confirmed that a “condolence call” was made on Thursday to Khan’s family in Charlotte, N.C., according to Fox News. Edwards declined to provide more details.

“It was a pretty quick call,” family spokesman Jibril Hough told Fox. “They apologized to the family for not reaching out and contacting them sooner.”

Khan, an American citizen, was known for writing and publishing an English-language al Qaeda magazine known as “Inspire.”

1. condolences? whatever.

Murdering someone and then calling their family to offer condolences is creepy, and entirely insincere.

3. Just think if all despots called the families of those they murdered
Genghis Kahn would still be on the phone.

"...everyone here at the office was like 'Oh shit, we killed an innocent American too?! We're all going to go to jail!' But then the intern found it so no harm, no foul. Honestly, we could have just written an assassination order on the spot because he was in the same car with al-Awlaki. Whatever. Crazy week! Anyway, take care and remember: The difference between America and the Chinese is the US government doesn't bill the family for the bullet. You should take pride in that distinction. Gotta jet!"
