I'm good. Nearby Heidelberg had some road closings. Other places got it far worse.

Please check in and let us all know you're OK.

1. I'm glad to hear you're okay, Solly.
K & R so this is seen. From the arid, US southwest.

5. I hope they check in soon.
Trying to track people I usually only speak with on a forum if they've gone "missing" is enervating.

3. Went through the Nashville flood last year..
It's hard, if you have never been in a flood, to understand the level of devastation it brings. Nashville was my first and I hope to never have to go through that again.. Australia, Brazil and now Germany. You stay safe Solly, if there is one good thing I can say it's that the flood will bring people together. All people. When I was helping others and they were helping us, no one asked who you voted for, or whether you were a "righty or a lefty", people saw people in trouble and they just helped. I hope the German experience is the same.

6. Germany and Germans are fairly pro-active during a flood.
Setting up walkways above the water and such.

It's been going on for days now...some places worse than others. I just didn't see some DU'ers and got to worrying about them.

Thanks, walldude.

4. And this is just the beginning.
I hope everybody got to higher ground. But I can't help thinking that the buildings can't run. Europe is going to lose a lot of glorious architecture in the coming years.

7. We had a record snow fall last month and then rains and warmer weather
...melting and causing floods. :(

It's not as bad as what's happening other places...not to minimize anyone's suffering, of course....but still...it could be worse and it's not..thankfully.

8. The Main River has flooded
Lots of buildings nearby the river have water in their kellars....lots of sandbagging of front doors and so forth. Otherwise, fine!

Good to see you, Solly!

10. Hey! We're fairly dry here. Today was clear and sunny.
Just wanted to make sure everyone was OK.

The Neckar flooded some and some streets flooded but other than that...not much else.

9. North of Nuernburg, some roads close this last week
Edited on Sun Jan-16-11 05:28 PM by bigbrother05
And flooding in the lower areas as the rivers were up several meters from the norms. As noted, the heavy snows followed by rain and warming brought the problems a lot earlier than usual.

Edit to add that today was great, sunny and near 50 deg F.
