I used it for a signature line here after I read it on the Daily Howler, and it is still the signature line for my email.

Except I also used the two lines before it.

"Everybody can be great. Because everybody can serve."


However, it probably takes a little bit more to solve the problem of homelessness.

4. In regards to your last sentence... it takes commitment, courage and determination.

Kinda like the man we honor today demonstrated.

There is much that can be done by ordinary citizens, and I don't mean charity.

One example... if 300,000 people could write on behalf of Keith Olberman's job, why can't at LeAST that many write to him to push him to talk about the REAL facts of homelessness? REally, WHY?

I don't know what the tipping point would be for KO, but could you get 50 people from DU and those you know to write a letter like that?

Here is a basic fact that most don't know or understand..... There are at least 9 million people who need low-income housing. There are 6 million available units. Any first grader can do that math. With that starting point, Keith could do a great job educating people.

and Rachel.

etc, etc, etc.

And that is one small example.

It is time for people to quit passing the buck and get busy.

If DADT can be repealed, then people sure as heck can do something REAL about homelessness.

The question is.... do any of you want to?

I certainly do, but people got excited about KeithO's job because they have skin in the game. Watching KeithO is important to them. The problems of the homeless? Not impacting them personally.

Unfortunately, it is not KeithO's job to inform the public. His job is to make us angry at the other tribe. "Was Olbermann really offended by the “remarkable inappropriateness given the religion of the congresswoman and given the millennium of pain it has represented for the Jewish people?” We have no idea; the gentleman seems to find himself outraged by all conduct on the part of The Other. But night after night, he and Schultz comb through the day’s detritus, looking for ways to stir liberal fury. Now, Rachel, often does a good job on an issue.

It's a very tough time though. With Congress' unwillingness to raise taxes on the rich, and Obama's unwillingness to fight Republicans, it is looking like the Federal budget is going to get cut along with most state budgets which have already been slashed over the last three years.
