Former Obama National Security Aide Running To Get Lee Hamilton's House Seat Back

A former national security aide to President Barack Obama has announced his candidacy for Indiana’s 9th Congressional District. Brigadier General Jonathan George is the first Democrat to announce his intention to challenge incumbent Todd Young.

George served as a U.S. Air Force officer for more than 30 years. After retiring earlier this year, he returned to his family farm just outside Bedford.

General George says he is running to return southern Indiana to what it used to be when Lee Hamilton represented the area in Congress.

“I see a real need to help solve the problems that have racked southern Indiana such as lack of jobs, a poor economy, a lot of social metrics that show a sign of deterioration,” he says. “Since the mid 90s there is a marked decrease in the quality of life in southern Indiana, and I think the people deserve better representation in Washington D.C. to help straighten that out.”

3. Every "D" counts toward majority status. Especially those that replace an "R".

If we're in the majority, we can get the right bills on the floor to be voted on.

I also make sure I support every liberal/progressive "D" candidate who has a snowball's chance of getting elected. Don't care what district they're in.

Someone here a few months back was trying to tell me that Arizona needed to elect Progressives. Uh...no problem. It's so easy to get even the most moderate Democrats elected here I'm sure a Progressive would be a friggin shoe-in.

A "D" is a "D" in some cases. In all cases, better than an "R".
