Now that a giant sequoia tree has fallen after a life spent as a pillar of a national forest, the debate is underway over what to do. NBC’s Kristen Dahlgren reports.

I was quite sure there would be a reference to the legendary tree that falls in the forest and is not heard falling because no one was there to witness it.

9. I agree. It's part of the circle of life.

The decaying tree will give life to a variety of forest life that is part of the eco-system. It's what you see in the few untampered by humans old growth forests.

16. Here's what they oughta do

Now that the tree is fallen, they should carve it up and make furniture out of it. They could sell the furniture and then use that money for various projects and what-not at the park. If they advertise it as being made from this historic redwood, they can probably double their asking price.

Not only is it a naturally fallen tree, it also gives the public the ability to "interact" with the giant in a way that was impossible before. Like someone above has said, the tree will still be a host to a wide array of fold, fungus', and other trees.

Oh, yeah, and since this is in the news and all - QUIT CUTTING DOWN THESE TREES!!!
SAVE THE REDWOODS!!!
