Judge Adam's lawyer releases statement
My name is William A. Dudley. The statement which follows has been reviewed and approved for circulation by Judge William Adams.

The seven year old video presently circulating the internet and now made the basis of international media attention, showing two parents disciplining their 16 year old daughter, who had been caught, by her own televised and internet reported admissions, engaged in repeated criminal activity, was posted for reasons other than as professed by the publisher.
.....
It is regrettable that Hillary Adams, a bright and gifted person, would include in her post that she is or was a disabled or a special needs child. As multiple media appearances clearly demonstrate, Hillary Adams is articulate, possesses a superior IQ, and is capable of functioning as a productive adult in today’s complex society. No one should take the affliction of cerebral palsy lightly. Hillary’s parents did not. Hillary’s condition was monitored as a child and her medical needs met. However, neither should a perfectly capable adult try to use an affliction as a device for media sympathy. It should now be apparent.............

that the judge is still an asshole and you can read the rest of the long letter here:

1. No amount of high faluting BS will alter the fact that he was physically abusing her
That wasn't just abuse but plain and simple assault and battery.

2. He's using a blame the victim approach to justify his behavior. Disgusting! I hope he is disbarred.

4. Hooray for the ubiquity of video recording devices
Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

This will follow the Judge forever.

5. Pictures speak louder than words! It was obvious what was going on. He should be
disbarred, unfit for duty.

6. ...
"It is regrettable that Hillary Adams, a bright and gifted person, would include in her post that she is or was a disabled or a special needs child the statute of limitations on the crime in the video has not yet expired."

What was really meant, this was a stupid move on the part of the lawyer.

7. He's clearly good at the BS. Unfortunately some seem to be buying it.
It's already being dismissed by some as family drama. She doesn't look that disabled, you see.

9. Wow, what a pantload.
What is regrettable, "Judge" Adams, is that after all of these years you haven't once paused for a moment of self-reflection.

10. How many perps who stood before him

were able to whine and blame someone else for their poor impulse control and propensity for violence?

Did he let that happen in his courtroom?

Did he let other men slide for this type behavior?

He has an idiot for a lawyer. The video was taken when this daughter was a dependent child, not an adult; trying to turn the victim into some "Jezebel" (always a favorite tactic of the "Kristchun Family values" crowd) who is bringing down a "Wholesome Mayun" is off the frickin' chain.

I won't say what else I'd like to say.....

11. "he wishes that the process not be played out daily...
on the national stage". I'm sure he does. It must be exhausting for the poor man to keep coming up with excuses to try to justify his criminal behavior. She needs to completely divorce herself from her father, and never look back. :grr:

Having personally experienced and seen emotional abuse, I read this letter as if it's a carefully worded cover-up.

16. No excuses - if he did this to some random person on the street it would be "battery" and he would
be in jail where he belongs. WTF is wrong with people?

17. They've already announced that they are not charging him - TX sucks (yes I live here)
Also Thursday, Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe said Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams won't face charges in the 2004 beating of this then-16-year-old daughter Hillary because the five-year statute of limitations has expired.

19. Who the fuck "spanks" a 16 year old?
It's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen (parenting-wise), and I could only really watch about a minute before turning it off.

Now, I don't think anybody should spank children AT ALL. Not one time. But to "spank" or whip a sixteen year old even strikes me as weird even within the whole universe of people who accept spanking as a way of handling children. The whole thing is crazy and disturbing.

21. *spank* wasn't used here -- that child was BRUTALIZED
He beat her with a leather whip to her back, her legs, and I suspect that at least one of the swings may have connected her head or face.

22. Now maybe people can understand why Texas is so fucked up -
I've been here less than 10 years (grew up in WI), and it is like a different country down here. Now you can see why they are so crazy. There are pockets of progressives, but mostly you have these fundie whack jobs. And when you grow up in this environment (which sadly MANY do - this is not something out of the ordinary down here) - can you see why they are so crazy as adults? They were beaten into submission in their formative years. This is just as bad as any of the countries with Sharia law - physical violence to intimidate and control.

And I watched the video. She was being beaten because she was playing VIDEO GAMES. Where exactly is that illegal?

SADIST. Get used to being called that.
