Kayvan Sabehgi in intensive care with a lacerated spleen after protests in Oakland, a week after Scott Olsen was hurt. He says police beat him with batons

A second Iraq war veteran has suffered serious injuries after clashes between police and Occupy movement protesters in Oakland.

Kayvan Sabehgi, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, is in intensive care with a lacerated spleen. He says he was beaten by police close to the Occupy Oakland camp, but despite suffering agonising pain, did not reach hospital until 18 hours later.

Sabehgi, 32, is the second Iraq war veteran to be hospitalised following involvement in Oakland protests. Another protester, Scott Olsen, suffered a fractured skull on 25 October.

Police used teargas and non-lethal projectiles to drive back protesters following an attempt by the Occupy supporters to shut down the city of Oakland.

1. Glad to be rec #1. His account of how this happened is chilling....talk about brownshirts!
And on top of it, he was clearly badly injured but an ambulance wasn't called for 18 hours after his arrest. This is a fucking nightmare -- the Oakland cops are out of control brownshirts.

7. May not have even been Oakland PD cops, as there were LE
from various surrounding communities, along with Alameda County Sherriff's Deputies present that night, many concealing their badge numbers and\or names in directiong violation of California Penal Code 830.10.

However, if he were arrested, there should be paperwork on the arrest with the name and ID of the arresting officer. Time for the U.S. Dept. of Justice to put those fuckwads under the microscope.

2. They lit the fire to break up the tear gas. QUAN MUST GO.
Further escalation in Oakland would be unconscionable. This is a peaceful movement.

Until the cops are sent.

3. Law Enforcement is Introducing the Violence... it's their fault
and of course their spineless politicians making these decisions. I hate elite scum.
