Sent a powerful message.

1) His anger regarding the political climate immediately following the shooting shows our reactions were authentic, not agenda driven, despite what some might say.

2) By not mentioning (or allowing Sawyer to) Palin he neither gives her a pass ( which Palin wants) or criticizes her (which opens him up to attack). Criticizing palin is one thing, but marginalizing her through omission is much better.

4. Sarah, Glenn, Bill'O and Rush were in high defense mode before anyone called them out.
And, as far as I can tell, most of those who did call them out are/were posters on boards like DU (as if there is anything comparable), not anyone in the MSM.

Of the four, S.P. was actually least culpable. The others far outpace both the frequency and violence of her dog whistles. However, she is also the easiest target, has the widest Neilson rating and Americans love nothing more than building someone up, just to tear them down in spectacular fashion. Additionally, her "cross-hairs" map, is a far more portable symbol of violent rhetoric than the recorded rants of any of the four - it's simply easier to market to the ADD addled public. Try that with an image of one of Glenn Beck's whacked-out chalk boards, and most would be left scratching their heads mumbling "WTF?"

There is no defense of S.P., but a majority of Americans no longer have an equal voice in the media. Since Jon Stewart, et al, can't spend each and every show exposing the sheer volume of hate speech given a free ride on radio, television and the print media, we need an alternative.

The fairness doctrine needs to be restored, or it's only going to get worse.
