4 more trials begin today in the arrests of OccupyRochester |
|
Yesterday our first supporter appeared in City Court at the Hall of Justice at 11 a.m.
The judge recused herself due to a 'conflict of interest' and the defendant was re-arraigned before another judge and a bench trial adjournment scheduled for two weeks...
I'm asking again that you keep us in your hearts and minds today...
Thank you!

Kudos to our Legal Defense team for all their hard work in finding legal representation and creating the Motion to Dismiss.
I believe that we only have a small handful of defendants who still need counsel, and were hoping to have that completed by tomorrow afternoon...
Thanks for the support !

3. Can you give any more details? |
|
Sorry if there were other posts on this, I missed them. What are they being charged with? Also, do you know what the "conflict of interest" is? Is it a show of support from the judge?
Best of luck to everyone there!

We were all charged with Tresspassing and Remaining in a Park after Dark, for defying the municipal park curfew in Washington Square Park.
At arraignment we all entered 'not guilty' pleas and were sent to trial.
What our legal team does not understand is that these are VIOLATIONS, normally ticketable offenses paid to a desk clerk at City Hall.
Why we were ARRESTED for it is the basis of our protest to take this to trial.

One adjournment due to a legal counsel absence, one Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal (ACD) in addition to 24 hours community service with a non-profit of his/her choosing, and still awaiting the outcome of two cases...
I'd say there are at LEAST a half a dozen non-profits working towards the support of OWS in Rochester...
