Small stand you can take
So if you need to replace any of them old and falling appart cooking utensils... (I had a skillet that needed that). You have a choice. You can buy another made in China ... well you know... or here you go... made in America Cast Iron

http://lodgemfg.com/

It is more than just a cooking vessel... it is actually a statement... and here is a trend... RALPHS now carries them. It used to be I had to hunt for them.

9. Large farm stores often carry Lodge products.

I dunno if you have Farm and Fleet, but I've seen them there and in other mom and pops as well.

5. I love my cast iron skillet
and my cast iron Dutch oven. Once they are well tempered they are pretty much stick free and the clean up easily. Another side benefit was that I never tested with an iron deficiency after I started using them.

14. I have had cast iron skillets. No more! They are a PAIN to keep.
I gave them up long ago, but for years I was a true believer that I HAD to have a cast iron skillet to properly fry my chicken.

I went East and discovered a more European style of cooking and that was THAT! I began using olive oil, garlic, lemon juice/white wine, flat leaf parsley, sometimes chicken broth in my sauces. How lovely! None of this heaviness, thank god!

19. I cook like that
with my cast iron skillet and my Dutch oven. I cook very little fried food. I saute onions and garlic in olive oil and that's about as much oil as I ever use.

8. I just gave away my Lodge frypans with a 35 year patina on them
because my wrists are completely trashed now. They went to my next door neighbor, an enthusiastic cook who knows how to care for them and will enjoy them.

21. That is the only drawback about them.
Bet your neighbor is happy, though!

18. No it's the enamel ware from your link
Lodge Enamel Cookware

Lodge Enamel cookware has received rave reviews from consumer oriented magazines like Good Housekeeping and Fine Cooking, while also garnering approval from professional chefs, test kitchens and home cooks.

Imported from China, the two lines of enamel coated cast iron cookware are stylish in appearance and produce excellent cooking results with surfaces that are FDA approved.

11. I have a set of mostly Griswolds
old as hell, well patina'd and an iron dutch oven that is perfect for casseroles and roasting chickens.

They all came from thrift stores and garage sales.

My aluminium non-sticks (which I pretty much only use for eggs, etc) are professional grade Wearever- the kinds found in restaurant supply are still made in america as well.

For those without Ralph's, farm stores and restaurant supply still carry a lot of classic american made cookwear -most of it is not a trendy fashion statement, but it works well and lasts a long while with care.

The lodge cast iron cookware set looks DARN GOOD! It's also healthier than other cookware. Compared to the teflon-like slide-food-off cookware we're expected to use nowadays is downright toxic.

Also, THE PRICE IS GREAT!!!

I love my Lodge cast iron pan. It doesn't even have a place in the cabinet - it sits on the stove.
