So today I went down to my local occupy for a significant event. Middle Class women came bearing wheel barrows of food, dry socks, blankets and other stuff. Most importantly they came down to Civic Plaza to bear witness and warn the city fathers that they will be there every Saturday and are planning a thanksgiving dinner (I now know what I will be doing on Thanksgiving, and it does not mean watching a game, or just staying home)
These women came to give support, both physical and moral support to the people who are occupying the plaza, well third street. They came to warn the press to stop the games, and the city to recognize that these people are there to peaceably assemble. The occupiers did not know this. Nor did they expect it. There were tears... and it was quite emotional.
Now my usual press... a few dozen women... (channel eight needs to learn how to do headhunts... I counted more than a hundred, that is not a few dozen but that is par for course)
Now here is the important thing. This group grew in a week from three to over a hundred. Which tells me just one thing, it is resonating.
Mic Check... "The banks got bailed, we got sold out." A new chant for you to enjoy and add to the collection.
As I keep saying, as more and more of this disconnect continues, more of this will happen.
Oh and did I mention it was raining hard? I have not gotten this soaked since my years in EMS... to be honest I was happy to see them... rain or shine ladies, THANK YOU.
