Poll question: Occupy DU poll
Edited on Sun Nov-13-11 11:40 AM by Earth_First
Just curious how other folks are supporting their local Occupations in what capacity.

I left 'other' available for the folks who are just as critical to the Occupation by offering material/financial/comfort support by stopping in, offering to cook, take in laundry, wash dishes, etc. I don't want to leave this most important demographic out of the equation, so please, if you are 'other' describe what you are doing to help benefit and sustain the Occupation and be recognized!

Occupy Your Mind!

I'm reminded of the wonderful 'Occupy the Tundra' photograph that made it's way around recently...

8. +1
Again, Outreach is of UPMOST importance, and can be tough.

Organizing individuals who are already Occupying is the easy part, convincing those to get off their arse and participate in one way or another can be difficult...

Thank you!

7. Thanks!
It's not about whose contribution is greater than the other anymore!

This is so much larger than self, and I appriciate everything that everyone is doing according to his or her own abilities!

10. Oh, I'd be down there 7 days a week if i could only figure out
either the parking ($20/day on weekdays which is too much for me, altho monthly rates are probly lower) or mass transit solution (2-hour one-way bus and rail trip to downtown from Westchester, including transfers for a 20-minute car drive).

I may start driving down after 5 p.m on weekdays, when parking costs drop to reasonable. That will mean, however, battling rush-hour traffic heading from westside to downtown. So again we're talking far lengthier commute times, so I'm still noodling on it.

9. Other. Combo. We have Occupy demonstrations, walks and
we're about to have our first General Assembly 21st of this month.

I discuss Occupy Everywhere to any person who asks about it, online/IRL. I wear my Occupy Wallstreet buttons everywhere. I defend the actions of the Occupy movement, online/IRL and make friends, neighbors, aware of the issues that effect us all. I also link and publicize information concerning the movement.

It's all I can do at this time.

13. I am the secretary/treasurer for occupy Carson City.
We have a general assembly once a week and hold a rally/protest in front of the Nevada Capitol every Saturday. We have no plans to have a permanent occupation this winter but provide material support to the occupiers who are camping in Reno (20 miles north).

14. I've been to two Occupations and given material support as well
I have also been able to contact officials in my capacity as upstanding citizen in my own city, my former city, and several others where I have worked and have ties in support of the Occupations and the dialog called for by the Occupations.

18. Other, mostly.
Were it not for winter, snow, arthritis, etc., I'd be camping with our local Occupy. Thus far, though, I've painted some signs and produced some buttons for the group. That said, I've just gotten one of those new-fangled fancy walkers with a built-in seat and a basket for carrying stuff like oxygen gear, so I'm hoping to spend a bit more time participating on-site (although I'm still chuckling at the irony of a walker with brakes...). And I'm going to chat this afternoon with a couple other supporters about organizing a Thanksgiving dinner for the protesters.

19. It is so important to support the Occupations. It is our last hope
I'm making two casseroles to take down there. I try to go 2-3 a week. I have stayed overnight one night. I donate money regularly.

I especially try to go when they call for people due to the County killing them off the plaza.

I regularly talk about it to others and at work. I call local officials and post comments on news pages.

I wish I had more to donate.
