Don Siegelman and Abramoff
I received this e-mail from Don Siegelman yesterday:

First: Jack Abromoff, is validating what I have been saying for more than a decade!!!! Straight from the horse’s mouth: Abramoff confessed that he laundered $20 million dollars of gambling money through fake organizations to defeat me and my Education Lottery proposal and to elect my opponent Bob Riley.

Then they came after me using the wife of my opponent’s campaign manager( Karl Rove's best friend), the US Attorney to prosecute me. Everybody knows that ruining a political reputation is the cheapest and best campaign tool ever. Yes, taxpayers paid for that campaign tactic, too.

I have been saying this all along and now it is in print, straight from Jack Abramoff himself!

In his new book Jack Abramoff states that the number one problem he had to deal with in Alabama was me… Don Siegelman. http://blog.al.com/sweethome/2011/11/jack_abramoffs_book_says_choct.html#incart_hbx

Sorry, I can't provide a link because this is from his e-mail.

He is going forward in his defense and pleased that history is showing just how right he was. He was viewed as enemy number one by the conservatives because he was electable.

DON SIEGELMAN NEEDS DONATIONS TO THIS DEFENSE FUND. So, if you can spare any money, please.

It is crucial that we support Siegelman and show Rove for what he really is before the next election.

1. I will send him a donation, thank you for the link.
I always felt that they went after him because he was one of the few people who spoke out against election fraud. Rove was deeply involved in the fraud, from what we know.

Abramoff got off easy, just three years, for all the crimes he was involved in and it is shameful that Siegelman is still being persecuted as a result of the actions of some of this country's worst criminals.

2. I just read the article and it seems now that the DOJ
will have to open an investigation into what went on in Alabama.

"It was obvious to me that the only way to stop Siegelman, MacGregor (sic) and the Poarch Creeks was to organize the Christians," Abramoff wrote. "Ralph could do this in his sleep."

Abramoff also wrote that the Choctaws didn't want the Poarch Creeks to know they were involved, which conflicts with the Senate testimony of a Choctaw official who said then that it was common for the tribe to use intermediaries, and it was not meant to obscure the source of the money.

Abramoff's book does not detail how the $20 million was spent in Alabama over the course of five years. Part of his crimes included overcharging his clients and pocketing the extra money.

"Our efforts for the Choctaw in Alabama were extensive and expensive, and included radio and television advertising," he wrote. "We organized scores of pastors and voters to lay siege to the statehouse and the governor's office."

This information must have been available in the case against Abramoff. Did anyone provide it to Siegelman's attorneys? It sounds like he's hearing it confirmed for the first time.

If the DOJ does not get involved in finding out what kind of illegal activities that money was spent on, and who received it, then they are a part of this political prosecution. I hope his lawyers demand a thorough investigation now.
