FOX news says: "Some people are talking about..."
Followed by something NO ONE is talking about, usually something only FOX news just created out of thin air. The beginning of a rumor that is posed as a fact. This is something they do to fabricate the appearance of something being 'sinister' and 'plotted' behind closed doors. It's also something they do to fabricate propaganda and give the viewer the impression and sense that they are missing out on something that numerous people are already discussing, it plants the idea in the viewers brain and makes the viewer feel the need to "catch up quickly" on this subject that they are missing out on, which usually makes the viewer want to take the "idea" to an even more radical level.

This is one small example of how FOX brainwashes its viewers, it plants a false narrative posed as a fact. It doesn't matter if it IS a fact, all that matters is it is now planted in their viewers minds. This tactic is used quite often, but mostly by the daytime anchors. The reason for this is because the "Some people are talking about" that they are talking about usually originates from their nighttime primetime line up. For example, it would go something like this: Glenn Beck or Bill O or Hannity, etc. will come up with some warped conspiracy theory that they've created, always negative, always full of fear, and toss it out there. Sometimes this BS theory gets a round table discussion by others who are guaranteed to throw fuel on the flames and take the BS conspiracy theory to an even darker place.

Once the big lie has been created and discussed on THEIR very own station, they add it to their webpage where it is discussed in an online forum by groups of people I'm embarrassed to even call my fellow countrymen. The next day the daytime anchors, notably Megyn Kelley, although the others use it alot as well, will segue to this fake, fabricated news story by starting with the phrase "Some people are talking about (INSERT LIE HERE)". Again, truth doesn't matter there, it's all about planting a false idea in their viewers mind and let confirmation bias do the rest. Combine that with the fact that it's being broadcast on national television it gives the viewer a sense of something being 'truthful' and 'urgent'. This is what FOX news excels at, mixing real although biased news stories in with fabricated and biased news stories until the line between reality and lies blurs before their viewers eyes. They can now control their viewers minds and spoon feed them ANYTHING they want them to believe.

Couple that with the fact that the largest base of their target demographic are people who firmly believe in blind faith and are easily gullible and you have the making of a 100% propaganda "news" channel. The "Some people are talking about..." that they are talking about is really nobody. Nobody is talking about that until they created that false narrative. It is a vicious circle of propaganda and lies. It is manufactured "journalism". The muck at the bottom of the barrel we call the media.

FOX news: Change the channel before the channel changes you.

Were I teaching a class in logical fallacies and fallacies of reference... I'd have my class watch Fox News for 30 minutes and tally up the fallacies. They'd need a whole notebook!

Morons like Sarah Palin think the NEA is a waste of money (says a woman with a big dead crab adorning her coffee table)...

But art teaches us things.

Studying theatre enables us to recognize it... especially when it's bad... like at a GOP debate or a Town Hall meeting. Would anyone who knew theatre have fallen for James Okeefe?

Studying art and painting enables us to understand the power of images and color

Studying music enables us to comprehend the power of nonverbal communication.

It ain't just for the highbrow. It ain't just for fun and amusement. It ain't just for kids.

Learning rational ways of thinking and to recognize when you are being manipulated can be taught. A population savvy in this skill would render Fox News to the National Inquirer ben where it belongs.

14. Man, I wish they did an updated version of this.
I've always been fascinated by media propaganda, even commercial propaganda. Like how a corporation that pollutes the environment will do a commercial about how green they are, or how they give back to the community, or how fracking is safe and they are "serious" about what they do. Saw a Bank of America commercial the other day about how they help fund medical research or some BS, like that lie will erase their legacy of corruption.

17. The ones that get me now-a-days are the ...
Pharmaceutical Drug Company commercials ... that spend like over half the time telling you at the end how their drug could actually do more damage then any supposed benefit to you. "Don't take ..... if you suffer from whatever, or are prone to whatever, blah blah blah blah ... be sure to consult your physician to see if 'our drug' is right for you !! hahaha .... :eyes:

here's the full documentary "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" free on you tube ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFDwdRXCg3I worth checking out, always been fascinated by propaganda myself. Peace.

31. Among the side effects: DEATH!!
I agree that these pharmaceutical ads spend more time warning you about the side effects than the benefits.

I've always said our society has been brainwashed into believing there's a pill for everything. By taking that drug, you solve one problem but create several new ones.

3. I zapped here the other day, and Hannity and some idiots were talking about Cain
Edited on Sun Nov-13-11 04:06 PM by Lars77
First they talked about Herman Cains sex abuse charges, then smoothly moved into a concerstation about political correctness and how much they loved it when people challenged holyer than thou liberals.

And so they just automatically drew the link saying the charges of sex abuse were just political correctness.

It was all really subtle and clever, i almost didnt catch it.

9. I wish people would quit underestimating them - what they do works, and is likely based on research
It's long past time we all got over the fact that they don't give a flying fuck about the truth, never have, never will. It's just useless to whine about it, it's like complaining that your AK-47 doesn't brush your teeth very well.

Their purpose is to make noises that cause people to exhibit certain behaviors. Personally I think they measure those behaviors and calibrate the mouth noises accordingly.

29. i would disagree- talk radio makes fox possible
fox is visual icing on the talk radio lie turd pie.

the excusing of the cain sexual assault charges and attacking the accusers is on another level on talk radio- limbaugh can say shit there, and hannity on his radio show, that just can't be said on fox. and fox can do the repetition to so many people. and they have to pretend to be balanced. talk radio blowhards have no such limitations and are protected by call screeners and paid callers. and there is no comprehensive written record of the work they do so it doesn't get anywhere near the scrutiny or challenge that fox gets.

21. Their blatant propaganda
allows the rest of the corporate media to be more subtly slanted, and thus more dangerous. Pox audience only attracts about 3% of Americans. The danger lies in the corporate propaganda that seems more palatable to the unsuspecting viewer. CNN for instance has several right wing shills pretending to be middle of the road (Wolf Blitzer), lending credence to many right wing positions that are patently false. They do this in the name of balance or giving equal weight to truth and fiction.
The entire Murdoch propaganda empire must be neutered for democracy to succeed. Arrest them and seize their assets.

28. 1000 coordinated radio stations prechew the propaganda without challenge from the left - so it's tru
fox puts the visual icing on the talk radio lie turd pie -- that's a major function of talk radio - talk radio 's been doing it for 20 years starting the propaganda, giving the 1% a giant megaphone to create their own reality and create made-to-order constituencies that parade as 'popular' becauses it's so well coordinated and used to enable and intimidate republican politicians and dems - and the only reason it has worked so well is that teh left has completely ignored it for 20 years except for pointing out a few racist or sexist remarks by the main blowhards.
