1. "there are some cops there with no ID"
um... isn't that illegal?? Why is it that they can get away with these illegalities yet the protestors are trying to use their rights and are arrested for it? time to call the Portland mayor's office!!

I hope they put the tents back up (like Oakland did) soon!!

3. The Constitution guarantees the right of peaceful assembly, but the powers-that-be don't want that
They're afraid of what the Constitution allows.

The powers-that-be know their thievery and criminality will end if the Constitutional right of peaceful assembly is allowed.

5. i know!
the guy talking to the police line keeps saying "the guy next to you, has brought a weapon to a peaceful assembly, he is inciting violence, arrest eachother, but not us...!"

8. Exactly! And either this country's Constitution GUARANTEES peaceful assembly...
or the Constitution is being dismissed upon by the powers-that-be.

6. First violence of the morning...but some hope.
The first violence of the morning has occurred...and to no sapient being's surprise, it was the cops that initiated it. An Officer Poole punched a protester for the "crime" of holding both of his hands up, palms out. On video and still photo...

It looks, however, as if the organizers are going to try to get everyone to move to Pioneer Courthouse Square, a few blocks away (and a traditional Portland protest site).

9. Of course! It's always the cops that incite violence in peaceful assemblies...
But in fairness to the cops, they've been instructed to do this shit, by the powers that want to keep things EXACTLY as they are.

15. True.
Most of the cops don't look like they want to be there one little bit.

Heading down there...might be able to update from my phone.

25. Yup. It's their job, they're ordered to do certain things, and if they don't, they'll have no job
And there are already almost no jobs out there.

Update if you can. Thanks!

16. Nuremburg says fuck fairness, they need to be held personally responsible, 24/7
They can always change sides if they don't like their instructions.

26. True, but then they will have no jobs. People are trying to hang on to their jobs for dear life
This country has been turned into a disaster by the 1% and we're all suffering. I know, I know, they are on the wrong side by virtue of their jobs, but I'll bet if you went inside their minds, only a few of them believe in what they are being ordered to do.

27. Like I should care? We already know that working for them is supporting them.
If you're working for their side 40 or more hours a week, it doesn't really matter what you do in your spare time, you're working for them, and you would be better off if you didn't split your own loyalties. It will make you crazy and weak, and easier for them to use.

It's not like they're ever going to give us good jobs again anyways. If we want real jobs we're going to have to make them without the help of the corporations.

My whole point is that, ultimately, it doesn't matter a flying fuck what authorities believe. What matters is what side they act for - what they DO. Their clubs hit just as hard, and their bullets kill just as dead. And once they understand that their job is oppressive, they have an ABSOLUTE MORAL OBLIGATION TO STOP DOING IT, or be treated by the whole world, through the indefinite future, like war criminals. It's their choice, and no one can soften it for them.

13. Livestream...link inside
http://www.kgw.com/live-stream

The KGW live stream has interviewed both the still photographer who captured it AND the guy who got punched. I don't know if they're going to go back to that or not. Cops look like they may be getting ready to move on the protesters.

Getting ready to head down there, myself...

18. i have a strange feeling
why can't the cops just let them HAVE that freaking intersection for sunday?

WTF?

because it is like allowing the commies to have a certain "hill" like in war...you can;t let them take back the street, cuz they would just take another one... right?
