ST. PAUL -- The courts likely will decide whether state-subsidized home day care providers may join unions.
Gov. Mark Dayton today ordered an election next month to see if the care providers want to unionize. Minutes later, Republicans said they would ask a court to prevent the election.
Some Minnesotans who run day care centers in their homes have asked for six years for the right to unionize, citing their low wages and poor working conditions. They say that being in a union would give them a stronger voice in the Capitol.

Immediately after Dayton’s announcement, a pair of Senate Republicans challenged the legality of a governor making such a decision and promised they would take him to court.

Just another sign of how desperate the Republicans have become.
Republicans are organized. So why can’t their sworn enemies, the general working public be organized also, so as to better defend themselves against Republican greed?
What do the Republicans have against people with decent paying jobs anyway? Why do they want to be able to get away with paying people less and less and less, until working 3 jobs isn’t enough to survive on? Even to the point of shipping their Living Wage Jobs over seas and pocketing the difference?
Is it because the organized, locked step Republicans can pick off non-organized people with impunity, but organized people can fight back for decent wages, working conditions and benefits?
