Blue Dogs who vote with the Democratic Caucus are far better than any Republican. In some districts, it's impossible to elect a progressive candidate. In those districts, a Democrat who votes with the caucus is a far better choice. Realistic expectations need to be applied as necessary.

the House and Senate have history that can be checked. Normally, neither are opportunities for unknown candidates to run. It's a little different in state legislatures and local offices. But a candidate for Congress is going to have some history.

In many instances, the party supports whoever is most likely to get elected....because that's the goal of a party, to get members elected. Sometimes these people do not have the same values and beliefs, but because they are good looking, known in the community, or have a lot of money, they get support from the party.

Here is a question...what if somebody like Elizabeth Warren decided to run as an independent? The Democratic Party leadership seems to be standing behind Obama no matter what. Would you vote for Obama just because he is a Democrat, even though an independent has the values you agree with?
