Oh, it is ON now. Michele Bachmann just dropped a web ad featuring the hardest — and widest— array of gut punches thrown thus far in the campaign. (In the Republican-on-Republican division.) One-by-one Bachmann fires a series of roundhouse kicks on the rest of the Republican field that would have made Billy Jack proud.

Called “No Surprises” (as in, given Michele’s consistent conservatism, there won’t be any), she deals on Mitt’s flip-flops on abortion, Ron Paul’s laissez-faire ‘tude on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Newt’s eco-hug with Nancy Pelosi and his support for the individual mandate, Herman Cain’s ignorance on China, and Rick Perry’s, well, Rick Perry moment.

Why go nuclear with 49 days until the Iowa caucus? Maybe because Bachmann woke up Tuesday and saw a Bloomberg poll showing a four-way tie in Iowa — and Bachman, the native Iowan, wasn’t among them. (It was Cain, Romney, Newt and Paul.) She’s SIXTH with five percent. Hard to blame that dismal showing on the lamestream media, but we’re sure she’ll try.

The attacks cited sound like business as usual for Bachmann: the same bullshit she traffics in every day of every year.

She needs attention, yet can't stand scrutiny, so this behavior is the only tactic she has. She's trying desperately not to be over yet, though the writing is on the wall. She knows that if she can do well in a primary, it'll keep her campaign alive for a few more months. She'll flail about in familiar ways until Iowa ends her run.
