7. Saw that last week...
I've been watching videos of this on youtube for years, and that was the first time I learned the name for it. It's one of my favorite things to see. :)

15. The Occupy movement is showing us
that it can be done. I can see the outlines of human murmurations in the swarms that assemble around the world, all of them powered by the same intent and fueled by the same ancient heart.

13. I experienced one at Point Reyes years ago around dusk
My buddy and I stopped and just watched it, slack-jawed, for minutes. It was a river, sometimes reducing to a small stream, other times as wide as the Mississippi. Farmer drove up and apologized for carrying a shotgun. He explained it was filled with blanks and he didn't want them to land in his newly seeded field. He told us they travel down to the estuary to roost for the night, but could pick his field clean in a flash if they put their collective minds to it.

Murmuration, great word.

17. Where is this located?
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 05:20 PM by Bosonic
Weirdly, I'm more fascinated by the beautifully foggy locale than the avian emergent behavior shenanigans.

<later>

OK, it's somewhere on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Shannon">River Shannon. (from http://www.islandsandrivers.co.uk/)
