7. so, basically, you are saying she is not allowed to walk away from her past
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 01:06 PM by seabeyond
and really she is here to provide for you. you kinda make the point of what the issue is that so many of the men on these threads does not have enough respect for the woman to allow her past to be just that, they keep her as their personal wanker regardless of what she is doing. even reading books to children. it is the hypocrisy as we lecture those parents on the scarlet A. you are doing no less.

20. Wow. That was quite a stretch.
You're reading paragraphs into a straightforward declarative sentence.

22. Yeah that's what I was thinking
How could wanting a volunteer to donate time = she can't run from her past?

I guess all we have to do is just say the word "porn" and the busybodies come out

24. Your post makes all kinds of sense.
Well kinda, if I squint a whole bunch. I'm truly glad that you got your requisite slam on men in, though.

but everyone's onto you. ;-) Just kidding of course.

Actually Sasha Grey is a former porn star and Compton is a not very good part of Los Angeles. Grey is part of a literacy program and was reading to a bunch of young kids. Some, not many, parents and of course the professional whiners at the family research council et al started whining immediately.

Personally I'd be more worried about the home life of any 3rd grade kid that actually knew of Grey's former occupation than the fact that she's reading to the children but maybe that's just me.

10. or, it could have been the tweet she put out letting everyone know what and where she did.
just as likely no one recognized. just as likely no one would have thought twice about it if she didnt advertise it.

12. she tweeted her fans she read to kids and told them what school.
that is probably why anyone knew who she was. otherwise i cannot see anyone caring, let alone knowing she was a porn actress.

26. So?
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 04:49 PM by Warren DeMontague
You know what? If she was screaming about how terrible, evil and awful porn is, you wouldn't have any problem with any of this.

But since she's never repented or adopted the proper patriarchy-blaming perspective on the whole thing, she's inconvenient to the narrative, huh.

25. so you think a porn star who isn't anti-porn enough for you should stay silent?
I thought you were against silencing opinions.

It's quite interesting what falls under my radar because I don't own a TV and therefore don't get certain kinds of news.

Then again, the shrub didn't actually READ "My Pet Goat" - too many big words.

Imagine that.

Anyway, I think it was nice of her to take the time to read to the kids. I'm not feeling the outrage.
