Parents: Cursing baby doll should not be sold
Parents: Cursing baby doll should not be sold

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Nationally sold baby dolls are causing a controversy because some say the toys say a bad word.

The "You & Me Interactive Triplets," which are being sold at Toys R Us stores in Orlando, are causing the uproar because one of the dolls can be heard saying what appears to be the phrase, "Hey, crazy bitch."

"Oh, absolutely. She's calling them a crazy bitch," Kathy Wetter said.

The dolls are recommended for children ages 2 and older, and there is no warning of explicit language on the packaging.

Another bagger-moralist that wants a big government nanny state to deal with their particular sensibility issue. Isn't that the free market solution or did I miss something about the way the capitalist system works?

12. Exactly.
Some bitches are crazy. The sooner kids learn this, the better. It's too bad they aren't doing this with toys geared towards boys, so they can learn this fact early on.

14. Well, one should also know what they're buying...
it shouldn't be a surprise, I think it's fair to say.

Not that I read the article, so I don't know what the deal is exactly.

15. That's true...
I think I probably over-reacted....just seems like, with no many real problems in this country, this seems like a pretty minor minor outrage. Oh well, I hope the little kid recovers from the audio assault she was subjected to. :-)

10. Omg!! I so want those dolls!

I wouldn't want my kid within 5 block of that burn those dolls lady.

I would bet that kids learn 90% of their swearing from family.

11. How about the parents don't buy it?
There are any number of toys I would not buy for my kids when they were little, because I thought they were stupid or inappropriate or whatever I thought. Parents really do exercise an enormous amount of control over their children. At least they potentially exercise the control, but too many choose not to. When they are young you can control what comes into the house and you should.

When my kids were little, I was incredibly rigid about not letting them watch PG-13 movies. w And I was pretty vocal about it. So when either of my sons was at a friend's house and they were preparing to watch some video and it was PG-13, usually the mom would call me and ask if it was okay. And I always said yes. I was not about to attempt to control what other families did, and this way they got to have the chance to break the rules and see one of the films. Plus, it did seem to have the effect of getting some other families to think about what they were letting their kids watch.

13. Several years back, there was a hysterical reaction like this over a
doll that was supposedly saying, "Kill Mama."

Turned out the dolls were supposed to go to Italy, not the U.S., and they were saying "Ciao, Mama."

If somebody can figure out where these dolls were supposed to go, somebody on DU can tell us what they are saying.

The ear is fallible. In a Sherlock Holmes movie I watched the other night, Watson said "I like Tennyson" and the subtitle read, "I liked Hennesen."

But I didn't get all bent out of shape about it . . . . :P
