Upon Reflection:
As I was driving home thru Friday rush hour, I got to thinking about the nature of cover-ups, and why individuals seem to over-react to some bad news by going off the deep end so to speak, and concocting a story which, when peeled like an onion, damns them to 'terrible' punishments. the reason of course, is that there's much much WORSE scandal right beneath the surface and the publicizing of THAT is what 'they' are so afraid of. Bad sentence structure but you get the point.

This stretches WAY back, but for many of us, the first nightmare of lies was the Kennedy Assassination which was of course, what changed 'everything'. Right now, the fear of OWS and the splinter groups is that if the masses ever discovered the trove of nightmares, the government and the country as we know it would not survive. Thus, TeeVee shows like 'Nikita' tell us that if the contents of the 'black boxes' are revealed. the country will not last. That's the lesson of the show, interestingly: that YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH. IT'S WORSE THAN YOU THINK OR COULD CONCEIVE OF. See what knowledge and radicalism will do? Now it's OK to try to bring down the bad guys, but don't let the masses KNOW the details of what the bad guys did. It will destroy the country. So therefore it's OK to be radical, but promote ignorance of the truth.

The new 'meme'.

1. I'm not sure the theme of Nikita is to conceal the truth but to address
those that created the deceptions, corruption, and their hold on the system and bring them down.

2. ...but don't reveal what's in the black boxes...
note that the only moral dilemma is 'do we upload the contents?'

3. I do not deny there are conflicts in the theme in what to reveal.
There is the moral dilemma posed, especially with characters such as Owen. There is the conflict involved with Gogol as well. Do you bring down Division and empower Gogol? If the back box contents are revealed, does this empower them? All sorts of confused and moral dilemmas as to what action to take.

4. Then there needs be no second season!
It's all a giant FUBAR storyline...and that's probably the actual case.
