And she still stands by that, but in our recent gubernatorial race, she voted Democrat! Despite her conservative leanings, she could not fail to recognize that Jindal was destroying the education system she had worked so hard for these last 30 years. She also has terminal cancer, so I know she's given some thought to people who face this without insurance.

She can't name one of those presidential candidates that she could vote for.

She's always been pretty hard core. If she's cracking, that's a good sign.

10. I know a lot of Republicans who vote only for Democrats in our state elections

Most of them are state and municipal workers themselves or are collecting a pension from the state or have a relative who is.

The last thing they want is a Scott Walker clone cutting their pay and pensions.

I have an aunt who is a fire breathing Republican teabagger but she has a couple of kids who work for the state so she only votes for Democrats for statewide offices. For federal elections she votes strictly for Republicans.

Very common here in Illinois.
