At an event in Kentucky Monday night for Tea Party and Republican hopeful Rand Paul, a supporter of Paul's was videotaped stomping the head of a MoveOn.org member. The video has gone viral, with liberals screaming about jackbooted thugs and conservatives judgmentally smugly asserting that some people get what they deserve. It is still unknown exactly what led to the MoveOn.org member being grabbed, forced to the ground, and held down for some time (albeit seconds compared to Hopfinger's minutes). But while being held down, one Rand Paul cap-wearer stepped on the held individual's head.
Later, that individual, Laren Valle, said that she had been specifically targeted by a group that said they were there to perform "crowd control." She said that the act was premeditated on the part of the Rand Paul supporters. She filed a report with authorities and said the matter was being investigated.
Tim Profitt also came forward. He is the guy seen in the video stomping Lauren Valle's head. However, he doesn't call it that. He sent a public apology statement to the Associated Press but says that he had been concerned for Rand's safety and the police were at fault for doing nothing when asked beforehand to intervene. He said that the altercation wasn't as bad as it appeared on the video and he apologized if it "appeared overly forceful."
Lauren Valle said she had only been attempting to give Rand Paul a fake "employee of the month" award and was assaulted.
