Since gays are being disenfranchised in America, should we have to pay full taxes to this country?

We're personas non grata to the majority of Americans. We're denied basic human rights at every turn and we're demonized by the majority religion in this country.

Why should we continue to pay taxes to a nation that doesn't want us?

. . .something which this country might as well officially recognize. It amazes me that essentially a minority who has run this country on every governmental level for over 200 years is so quick to declare some citizens as "not as deserving" yet readily collects taxes from those same citizens.

which isn't happening. Should gays have the same civil rights and protections enjoyed by heterosexuals? Yes. Should gays have the right to marry and adopt children, and enjoy the same legal protections and tax allowances as heterosexual partnerships? Yes. All of this is changing though, albeit much more slowly than it should; the US has a long way to go before it catches up with most of Europe on the issue of gay cilvil rights and civil equality. You can blame a lot of this on the essential backwardness of a lot of the American population; given that a lot of states have populations with fundamentalist Christian majorities, I suppose that it's probably reasonable to expect that the best outcome will be that gay marriage/civil partnership and adoption rights and so on are recognised at the Federal level and by some states but not by all. Which is not much comfort, but at least things are changing (DADT repeal, likely repeal of DOMA, civil partnership/gay marriage recognised legally in several states).

But before the premis happens - I'd prefer that all women (gay, straight, transgender) get the 23% tax rielief until a Paycheck Fairness Act gets implemented.other than Lilly Ledbetter getting some justice, nothing has been done to address the inequity all women experience regardless of their orientation since January 2009.

So by op's original post Im for them, as long as lesbians get a higher deduction/tax relief than gay men.
