We've seen reporters, police, college faculty, veterans, unions, and more join the cause as offenses mount...and as offenses mount, reactions to it deepen...I also hope to see, soon, what you are describing, because it is the trend :)

And now I'm amazed to see large cities without them. But I also believe a lot of this is due to the input of federal dollars, and the strings and training that go along with the money as states and cities suffer from budget cuts and they become more dependent on that money and mentality from the GOP's DHS. But I agree with the way that you have stated the problem, too.
