Leaving me in the cold.
And I can blame Grover Norquist and his "Oath" that blackmails republicans into voting against raising taxes as this country goes bankrupt.

1. The Superdupercommittee was designed to fail.. |
|
Aren't you hearing DUers boast of Obama's eleventy brazillion dimensional chess strategy in regard to the Superdupercommittee failing?
I sure am.

2. It wouldn't necessarily have to be connected. People should still fight for it. |

6. Those were mostly defense cuts. This would be a new expenditure, |
|
since the current authorization is due to expire.
He hasn't said he would veto this.

8. I'm waiting for the fat lady's tune on this one.. |
|
Everyone knew the Superdupercommittee was going to fail and everyone has gamed past it by several moves.
I remember the profession of Kremlinologist, now we have to use the same techniques to study our own government because everything is so opaque.

5. I don't think that would have fallen under cutting a trillion dollars in spending |

Nothing that means spending will ever get past these Republicans.

7. If they're worried about their re-election prospects, it could. |
|
It all depends on how much pressure is brought to bear.

9. Evidently Grover Norquist has some unseen pressure that's working |
|
They are afraid. They stand together like an unmovable wall, but they are afraid of something. It could be Grover Norquist is like J. Edgar Hoover and he has a dossier on each of them. So his 'loyalty pledge' would carry a lot of weight if that were the case.
He's feared. Just like Rove is feared. They make and break politicians almost at will.

10. The only pressure they care about is from their primary voters.. |
|
Them worrying about any other pressure is pointless because if they piss off their primary voters they are gone..
