Penn State Victim Was Retaliating Against a Tough Mentor, Lawyer Claims
Accused Penn State molester Jerry Sandusky claims that the boy known as Victim 1 accused the coach of sexual abuse in retaliation against a tough mentor and then exaggerated his claims after being "pampered" by prosecutors, Sandusky's attorney said today.

Lawyer Joe Amendola told ABC News that Victim 1, one of the main accusers in the 23-page grand jury report against Sandusky, reacted against Sandusky's demands that the boy work harder to achieve his goals.

"When you push and they don't want you to," Amendola said, "they react. And what Jerry believes happened is that this young guy got tired of Jerry pushing. Jerry believes that what happened was this young guy said, you know what, gee, if I say Jerry did something to me, that's the end of my relationship with Jerry."

*snip*

"Because people when they're brought into the criminal justice system and they're labeled as victims, they're pampered, they're encouraged, they're treated specially. And particularly when you're dealing with maybe someone who hasn't had a great, the greatest of lives. Then a lot of times they start feeling more important," the lawyer said.

The original title had Victim in quotes, which I removed b/c I want no part in Amendola's vile attempt to smear the people who were hurt by Sandusky. I am disgusted that ABC put those quotes in.

The whole article will make your blood boil. Here's hoping this backfires as badly as Sandusky's Costas interview.

Sick bastards, Sandusky and Amendola both.

5. whatever his other dastardly deeds might be, he did NOT have sex with
an "underage" girl.

She was over 16, the age of consent in Pennsylvania at the time.

3. Sandusky is going to have strong grounds for an appeal of whatever he is convicted of.
Innefective assistance of counsel.

In layman's terms, his lawyer is dumber than a bag of snot.

25. I wonder if he realizes that b/w his full-throated victim-blaming defense of Sandusky and
his barely-legal impregnating of a teenager getting nationwide attention, that Mr. Amendola might be severely reducing the number of people who will be willing to hire him in the future.

Unless he plans to make to make his practice exclusively pedophilia cases.

And what about the other accusers? Were they just being "pushed" too hard, also?

10. Yep - hard to believe someone got tired of Jerry's pushing (from behind, in the shower)

23. It was what the prosecution said they expected
and why they thought the assistant coaches and Janitors testimony would be important. In a one on one situation he said/ she said type dispute can work as a defense, but they have third party eye witnesses that won't be as easy to explain away.

14. Blame the victim.
Of course. Why would these pieces of crap do anything else?

What the hell...they figure this tactic works against women. Why not use it against young boys as well?

Sick. Sick. Sick. It's all about the power.

17. their social background apparently made them targets, and now is used to discredit them
:grr:

The first comment I read from the lawyer, shortly after the story broke, was that these were "troubled" kids who were just "acting out." And now he continues along those lines, with the suggestion that they haven't had great lives and so they're happy for the justice system's attention. :eyes::puke:

Their social background apparently made them targets for Sandusky, and now his lawyer wants to use their backgrounds to discredit them. Disgusting.

24. Just saw that on pennlive.com
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/11/two_more_child_abuse_investiga.html

Two cases of child sex abuse alleged against Jerry Sandusky have been opened by Children and Youth Services in Pennsylvania.

The cases were reported less than 60 days ago, and so they are still in the initial stages of the investigation.

If they are found to be credible, these would be the first known cases to be reported since Sandusky’s arrest that involve current children. All of the other publicly known cases of alleged victims coming forward have been adults.

In Pennsylvania, when an adult comes forward and alleges abuse -- even if it happened when that person was a child -- it’s solely a police matter. CYS only participates in the investigation if the victim is still under 18.

Wonder if these abuses took place after the 2009 reporting by Victim One?

21. Here's another defense.
Straight out of the Catholic Church playbook: Next Amendola will say that it was the fault of the kids' parents for letting their sons near Sandusky.

Not a bit surprised at this "blame the victim" bullshit. We all know what most likely happened. Jerry was forcing himself on this kid and the kid was trying to fight back. The "tough mentor" scenario works both ways.
