Tucson memorial speakers 'scoff at Jesus': Franklin Graham
Source: USA Today

Rev.Franklin Graham -- digging directly at the memorial service speeches for the Tucson shooting victims -- is quoted on Christian Post saying they (all the speakers? some of the speakers?) were scoffing at Jesus by omitting Jesus' name.

Graham gave a speech at a John Brown University, private Christian university in Siloam Springs, Ark., this week that sounded the persecution-of-Christians alarm so loudly you would think lions were being set loose in the amphitheaters of U.S. culture. Christian Post coverage of Graham's speech, the son of Billy Graham, cited memorial services done right (ones where his father spoke) and compared Tucson unfavorably to...

... the memorial for the Oklahoma City bombing and a prayer service after 9/11 called upon the name of God, the Tucson memorial featured an Indian man who was calling upon "father sky and mother earth."

"There was no call for God to put His loving arms around those who were hurting," he observed. "Why did they leave him out? They scoff at the name of Jesus Christ."

He said the scoffing and persecution against believers of Christ is only going to get worse.

3. Nice, coming from a womanizing drunk and druggie.
Sit down, Franklin, and shut the fuck up! Please, Jesus, make him shut up!

(Now that oughta please anybody, I invoked the name of Jesus. Now we'll see if he comes through or if he's a piker.)

4. "Why did they leave him out? " .. so are they going to blame him for what went wrong? I mean
he ALWAYS gets credit when things go right, but he never is blamed when things go wrong, why is that? I for one found it refreshing that it wasn't all about god and jebus, it was about the victims, how quaint is that?

5. Yeah, persecution, that's it...
Basically, anyone who doesn't kiss Graham's god's ass 24/7 is "persecuting Christians"

I'm so sick of these amoral dishonest crybabies.

6. Judge not lest ye also be judged by the same measure!
I'm thinking that by virtue of Mr. Graham's blatant disregard for God's law, he is scoffing at the name of Jesus Christ! Worse still, he is using the Lord's name in vain!

I spoke to God this morning and he don't like you!

8. "He said the scoffing and persecution against believers of Christ is only going to get worse."
So now, refusing to have a Christian ceremony is persecuting Christians? Well, if that's the case, then I can only hope he's right about how it's going to get worse for them.

9. Did Graham take a potty break when Holder read from the New Testament?
So by reading from II Corinthians Holder was "scoffing" at and "persecuting" Christians? Wow. Just wow.

18. That didn't count because the passage didn't use "Jesus" thirty times.
Of course, the fact that several victims were Jewish doesn't concern him.

12. Who the hell did he assume all that praying they mentioned was being done to?
The line to feel like they're the REAL victims of the shooting is getting just a scoche long if you ask me.

13. Yeah...
Shooting up a bunch of democrats and people that get along with them is kind of bad. But what is the REAL crime? Having a funeral service without Jesus! Oh horrors... oh no!

This has got to be one of the worst phoney victim routines I have ever heard of. Despite the fact I dislike Franklin's father, I doubt he would ever have suggested anything so stupidly callous.

20. Even on DU, Pres. Obama's invocation of an Indian blessing...
Even on DU, Pres. Obama's invocation of an Indian blessing rankled some delicate feathers. I imagine not because he failed to use the name of Christ, but rather because he made mention at all of a non-secular, imaginary human construct.
