Wow, Perry is still proving he is an idiot (On Rachel's Show)
Not only did he get the voting age wrong (21) but he clearly doesn't have any idea when Presidential elections are held. November 12th is not an option. It is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. That means it is never sooner than the 2nd and never later than the 8th.

As Ron Paul would say "Read The Constitution".

^snip^

Elections for President and Vice President of the United States are indirect elections in which voters cast ballots for a slate of electors of the U.S. Electoral College, who in turn directly elect the President and Vice President. They occur quadrennially (the count beginning with the year 1792) on Election Day, the Tuesday between November 2 and 8

4. At this point, I'll take his word for it.
He doesn't need to prove to me that he's an idiot.

6. Unfortunately not--he's really that fucking stupid.
As I understand it, he was specifically selected by Rove and company as being so stupid that he could stand on stage with Bush, running for Lieutenant Governor, and make Bush look like the smart one.

8. I think this was an indication of his actual view of his own candicacy:
"You'd have to be coming off a 6-day bender to want to vote for me." Drink up, kiddies!

10. Republicans have been running these 'pitch man' presidential candidates since Reagan.
Reagan was a very big deal for the Republican establishment, because he demonstrated a new path forward in Presidential politics: the mascot president. In the age of television, there's no need to back a statesman and hope he pays you back once he's in office. You can just run a moron with a telegenic smile-- someone who likes attention and ceremony, but doesn't really give a shit about policy and will serve you just as dutifully as Ronald serves McDonald's.
