Will Santorum ever have his day in the sun and polls?
I think it says a lot about the Repub party that, so far, Santorum hasn't risen to the top of the heap. That's not to say that he won't but I have to wonder why, out of all those that are running, he hasn't had his day in the sun, so to speak. He's not crazy like Bachmann, he doesn't have to worry about infidelity like Gingrich and Cain, he doesn't appear to be as stupid as Perry... so why hasn't he had his day?

Don't get me wrong, I think Santorum is a frothy mixture of 'douchebaggedness' but it makes me wonder about the Repub party and where they stand and their values when it comes to picking favorites. If it weren't for his flagrant homophobia and his fundamentalism, I'd think Santorum would be a decent candidate for a Repub.

2. I don't get it, either ...
He is very politically savvy, a tough and hard worker at getting elected.

He is VERY strong with the three core constituencies of the party.

1) He unabashedly intermingles their version of Christianity with politics and pushes the most extreme agenda's they seek to advance.
2) He is a BIG time war hawk.
3) He was the lead in the senate for the K street operation, is tight with big money and raised the most cash ever for his last senate reelection.

He did get absolutely smashed by Casey in 08, but you would think in any republican primary he would be viable, much less a primary like this where the extreme right is pretty much in control.

3. I don't think so, and I don't really know why? maybe hypocritical GOP voters
like their nominees to have committed adultry. Santorum is terrible on almost every issue and so should be doing better with GOP voters. The only thing I can think of is that he hasn't (to our knowledge) committed adultry. Perhaps he should have an affair? then maybe he'll begin to gain ground.

6. In addition to being a cuckoocrazy wingnut
he is BORING. Frothymix is a more genuinely reichwing Timmeh Pawlenty. And what happened to Timmeh the Tool?

7. He's a loser
He's one of the few living Senators who have actually lost a seat in an election. It is SO rare for that to happen, that it is a political Mark of Cain - nobody in their right mind will touch him as a candidate for anything serious. IMO his only way to redeem his attractiveness as a candidate is to regain the Senate seat he lost... and that's not happening anytime soon.

8. Probably after "Gas-Bag" Gingrich crashes and burns.
Gotta disagree on your analysis of Santorum. I think he is as crazy as Bachmann, he just has the self control to keep his pie hole shut. I also wouldn't be too sure that there is not infidelity issues. The holier-than-thou crowd usually has a lot of skeletons.

10. Bringing a dead fetus home for his kids to see it
IS crazy. At least Backman's craziness is towards adults, who can say NO to her. Could Santorum's children say NO to their father and their dead sibling? Personally, as a woman and mother this is sick and smacks to me of child abuse.

If you don't think he's as crazy as Bachmann or Palin, you simply haven't followed him for long enough.

18. He comes off as a squeeky twit, and he's a fanatic Catholic. To the GOP base Catholics are second
class citizens. Less despised than Mormons, but not warmly embraced if there are alternatives. Exclusionary mindsets.

I think Santorum's campaign has tottered along because no one has ever hear more than three words of his speeches before nodding off.

That should get Mr. Frothy to be REALLY popular with the far right.
