LA Mayor Says He Evicted Protesters Out Of Concern For Children, But City Has 13,000 Homeless Kids
Here is a photo from last night of police looking for children to help:

Last night, the city of Los Angeles reversed its long-standing policy of mutual cooperation with Occupy Los Angeles and raided the encampment on the steps of city hall, evicting protesters. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said he decided on the eviction when he learned that children were sometimes present at the camp:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said he decided it was time to evict Occupy L.A. protesters from the City Hall lawn after learning that there were children staying there. Given the smattering of assaults and other incidents reported at the camp, “the chaos out there could produce something awful,” he said in an interview with The Times.

(Thanks to Mrs. coalition_unwilling for the story)

3. Good luck getting anyone to care about poverty
in this country, it is just not fashionable ATM. Stagnant wages, records for unemployment etc....no party will or any other group will touch it.

That hardly makes it go away, just makes it invisible like the homeless.

8. Um, is that cop stinding there with his finger on the trigger?
He would be a hurting pup if he fired it in that position. Also even with a bean bag round, at that range a head shot can certainly be lethal.

:grr:

What violence did they encounter that requires such an approach?

14. There are a large number of homeless youth and teens on the Hollywood streets.
Many fled abusive homes and came here for various reasons.

Prostitution is a norm and death is as well. I tried to google but the fist story depressed me so much I won't even link it .

Thank you Villainaigosa!

19. So, if he is so concerned about children, what are his plans
to deal with the homeless children in his city? Has he presented any plans today?

I think we need to call him and demand that this problem, which WAS being dealt with by the occupiers, be addressed, now that he claims to be so concerned about it. The money he spent last night on the hundreds of cops probably could have been spent on finding homes for those homeless children.

I hope he loses the next election. I despise liars.
