If not Comcast, then who else could have factored into KO's premature termination?

I'm thinking Jon Stewart. Ever since the past fall, I've noticed that Olbermann has been on a bit of the defensive after Jon Stewart began making a false equivalency between KO and the extreme right-wing rhetoric. Olbermann dropped his Worst Persons segment in responce to Jon and even pushed back at his acusations of equivalency, but eventually brought it back under a new name to underscore that the segment is to simply be taken light-heartedly, not literally. Yet Jon Stewart persists. Even last night when I was watching him interview those anti-Iranian Iranians, I noticed he mentioned KO and that "infamous" segment as some kind of comparison to right-wing rhetoric.

Anyways, these are just my thoughts and obvservations alone. Who knows what really goes on behind the scenes at NBC. Perhaps time will tell.

I was already getting sick of Jon Stewart bashing our guys just for the heck of it, and now tonight we get this horrible news. :mad: What do you guys think?

12. Comedy Central is Viacom and Viacom is not a part of NBC Universal.

How are you getting that out of those two articles? In the CNET article there happens to be two CEOs of separate companies talking together about an issue that concerns both of them. In the other article it's clear there is Viacom and then NBC Universal as two of the six big media conglomerates.

Comcast just received approval for its buyout of NBC....they did not even wait for the ink to dry to slice out the one guy who was exposign the Republcan lies...Looks like they gave KO maybe two hours notice.

9. As the media is throttled more and more for those that do not abide by the propagandistic agenda

this will have seemed like liberal media times. Keith was not dumbing people down and I'm sure that did not fit well with the Comcast culture. Keith saw the handwriting on the wall I bet and this was the opportune time for him to shift gears. My bet is Keith knows exactly what he's doing and the timing for this was perfect for him.

11. there's multiple possbilities

the blowup over the suspension and the idea among execs at NBC Uni that whether GE or Comcast was in control, one person not in their control was Keith. He's this sort of bull in the china shop that could say or do anything at any moment, by far the most difficult person on the MSNBC lineup to keep in check.

msnbc may feel they can get similar performance w/ a lower profile host at a cheaper price

keith hasn't saved all his criticism for republicans and to the extent those in power among democrats think he was pivotal in pushing them perhaps too far to the left where the party appeared to be damaged in November, they'd want to point the finger at keith and get him out.

keith has a history of burning out wherever he's employed and perhaps was taking measures to ensure that msnbc would want to can him with his actions off and/or on camera.

and immelt could have made this move w/ his new boss obama's blessing as part of a move to the center
